OT: Jose Mourinho out @ Manchester United
Seeing as we have a decent EPL following here on the board, thought I'd share the glorious news that Mourinho has been sacked.
Eerily similar to his last stint at Chelsea where he was let go round about the same time, after suffering see, and pissing off the fans and players.
Interim coach to follow, full search in the summer.
Come on you Reds!

Not Moyles or Louis

He needs to change his methods or retire. It's crazy the list of world class players he's run off of teams. He'll land somewhere, though. Will it still be in England?

I think he heads to La Liga

Tactically he matches up best with Italian coaches, because they all love playing 9 defenders in serie A for some reason, but I think his style of coaching would make the biggest impact in Spain.

FREE POGBA

I take some happiness in that after watching all of his temper tantrums.
December 18th, 2018 at 9:45 AM ^
He’s an insufferable cunt that tried alienating their best and most marketable player in Pogba.
Go get Poch or some offensive innovator.
December 18th, 2018 at 9:51 AM ^
Poch isn’t leaving Tottenham in the middle of the season so I would rule him completely out
December 18th, 2018 at 9:45 AM ^
The third time that he's been fired immediately after losing to Liverpool, if anyone is keeping track

Good.

If Urban Meyer's health permits maybe he can take over. Just imagine what Man U could do with a spread-to-run offense and five star talent all over the pitch.
December 18th, 2018 at 10:44 AM ^
Man U probably has a greater talent pool comparatively than OSU. The top rich clubs hoard so much talent.

You are seeing the death of United.
December 18th, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
I don't think any fan underestimates the difficulty of rebuilding a dominant team after the last few years of bobbins, but "Death of United" is lol-worthy. Maybe when some of the non-City/Chelsea gloaters have, you know, won something recently.

You must not watch them at all. They died a long time ago...today is rebirth.

As a long-time LFC supporter, this is a negative. Mourinho as United's manager was absolutely perfect. He took a talented group of players, sucked the joy out of them, and made them hard to watch all while stoking his ego. Ultimately destroying the fabric of the club in service of his outsized ego.
Plus, as long as Mourinho was United's manager, Pogba's transfer price went lower and lower. Klopp is the ultimate player's coach, and I have little doubt he'd have integrated Pogba into LFC had the opportunity come along. That becomes less likely now that United has sacked its abomination of a manager.

Klopp could plug Pogba all over the pitch. The key is whether he can press and counter-press at mid-field. He'll stay at United because the problem just packed up his belongings and left town.

Agreed. Aside from Alisson's regrettable error, the Man U win was one of the easiest games I've seen this season from Liverpool

Allison reminds me of the old saying about Ireland - "it's so nice and green, it's a shame it rains all the time". His occasional mind farts are part of his overall game, which is superb.
United looked terrible, just the way I like it. Now that Mourinho's gone (#FreePogba), they will almost assuredly return to form with an identity other than "we're the team that sucks all the joy out of football".

Would be something if my Wolves could finish ahead of ManU.
Mourinho is too old school for these clubs that are in the biggest spotlight. He’s flamed out at Real Madrid and ManU. His success was at Porto, Inter and Chelsea. Big clubs, but not the club under the most scrutiny.
He deserved to be fired. ManU should be finishing no worse than 3rd considering their resources. But nobody is beating City while Pep and the owners are there.
December 18th, 2018 at 10:43 AM ^
While I agree City could run away with it. Chelsea managed to beat them and Salah is leading Liverpool up top!

I give Chelsea props for beating city but it was also a city missing KDB, Mendy and Aguero. Sarri’s tactics were spot on and took advantage of no striker for city. Kante man marked David Silva all over the pitch and played a hell of a game and you guys dominated the midfield. I’m impressed with Sarri, a lot like Pep in his first year, he’ll have some ups and downs but you guys will be too 4 and the next couple years, you’ll be in the race. You are in the race now.

City have only 4 points from their 3 matches against the rest of the top 4. However, they’ve only dropped two points from the rest of their matches. That’s crazy good efficiency but I expect similar results throughout the rest of the season. That puts a ton of pressure on the rest of the contenders every single week because they have to keep up to make their matches against City a fight for the title. Liverpool have only dropped points to Chelsea, City and Arsenal this year but idk if they’ll be able to keep it up. Chelsea and Tottenham have dropped points against mediocre teams so they’re essentially out.
December 18th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
It’ll be tough for Liverpool to stay in front but I do think they have a great chance to keep it tight until the final day. The scariest thing for everyone else is that City have been great again this year and they have played 95% of this season without their best player KDB. He is back now, and just in time for the busy part of the schedule. The next 2 weeks and months are crucial for everyone in the title race.
December 18th, 2018 at 2:27 PM ^
You could also say that several key Liverpool haven't really hit top form yet, though. I think the upcoming LFC @ City game will go a long way in deciding the league.
December 18th, 2018 at 6:29 PM ^
I would wholeheartedly agree that you guys haven’t hit full stride but you also haven’t had huge injuries either. We’ve been without kdb all season, aguero for parts, Fernandinho for parts, now David Silva. Stones has been hurt and Mendy is out 3 months. If salah or mane get hurt, it could be really painful

As a Chelsea fan(picked solely for blue and yellow kit at the time similar to Michigan's), I was like oh god Man U is SCREWED! They let him spend half a billion and he still had trouble qualifying for Champions League. Dude is a joke. I'm not sure what his deal is to be honest, maybe at the first sign of things going bad he just phones it in? Or maybe he squabbled with players. He's like Urban Meyer but a slightly better human being and quits mid-season instead of complaining about health due to scandals then stepping aside. Just a thought if Urban wasn't a lying cheating scumbag maybe he wouldn't have the stress and medical issues.
Goodbye turtleneck! Go back to Portugal!

Mourinho couldn't leave fast enough. Probably the most miserable coach in the game.
