OT: Jimmy Howard Injured

Submitted by Seth9 on

Per multiple reports, Jimmy Howard has broken a finger last night and will be out ~2 weeks. Joey MacDonald is being called up as the 2nd goalie until Howard's back. Obviously, if you are a Wings fan, this is not good.

UPDATE: The Red Wings press release states that Howard is out for the remainder of the road trip (games against Edmonton and Phoenix), after which he will be reevaluated. So hopefully it's less severe than initial speculation.

Could be a blessing in disguise. Gives him some rest for the final push down the stretch. I just hope Conklin can get his shit together.

I'm happy after reading the title.  I was expecting a season ender.  This will just give him some rest before the stretch run.  Playoffs are when it matters anyway.

Yes they have been playing well at home this season oh and hey while we're on the topic have you heard of a run-on sentence I'm sure you have because you just gave us an excellent example of one sorry if you feel offended by my grammar nazi-ism sometimes I just can't help it don't take it personally kthxbai.

I've been fearing this all season long. Wings have been relying entirely on Howard, as Conklin has yet to be able to prove himself as a legitimate backup.

I'd like to see Conklin and MacDonald split the next two games. We might as well give Joey a chance. And if it really is only 2 games, the Wings only need to win 1 of those and we'll be coming home with a 3-1 record from the road-trip, which would be great the way they've played on the road this season.

Does anyone happen to know what hand? I assume it's his glove, since that side takes a little more direct abuse than the blocker.

The Wings will be fine, but let's hope he gets well soon with how tight the Central has been this year.

When I read this posting title, I thought for sure it was the dreaded groin injury, which can linger for the rest of the season. When I read he "has broke a finger" I was at once relieved and appalled with the grammar.
