OT - Is it Tuesday yet?

Submitted by backusduo on

I must admit I play about an hour of the NCAA 2011 Demo every day.  I'm buying it on 360 to play with my friends online, but I've been playing the Demo on PS3.

EA put out a great article recently about the improvements they have made since the Demo was completed.  They stated they really do put an entire month more of work into the game to get it ready for final release.  The Demo was completed on 5/1 and the Game was completed on 6/1 encompassing as many fixes as they could make in the extra 30 days they had.

Big things that I think make this game incredible are the blocking schemes.  I've never seen a football game that punches holes in Defensive Lines like this game does, and encompasses the strategy of hitting a hole with your HB, and then following your blockes.  Want to bounce it outside?  See your WR try to hold the edge so your HB can turn it up field.  Until you see it, you can't believe how realistic it is.  Really a work of art that makes this game exciting to play.  Add to that realistic playbook for every team and the ability to now run a hurry up offense and still select plays, and you have an unbeatable combination that will actually feel like the real thing.

My only criticism early on other then the lame commentary has been the inability of the DL to put pressure on a computer QB.  This has supposedly been fixed, but if the game doesn't get it right you always have the AI slides to assist make it more realistic.

My id online is backusduo also, so fee free to look me up on 360.

I haven't been this excited for a game in a long long time.  This will surely help the last two months before football go by a bit faster.

So, how many threads on NCAA '11 is this now?  It seems like it's been 3-4 each day.  How much new information can we possibly find out?  Not a put down to OP, but to the never-ending amount of threads on this topic.  At least they're all labeled 'OT'

I really think I'm going to pick the game up at midnight. Im so stoked for this game. If anyone wants to add me on xbox live feel free I'm always up for talking Michigan and playing shooters or NCAA. I'm decent at cod if anyone still plays that. In looking for a good team that I don't have to carry. Gamertag is litt1e rhino same as my name on here.

It does seem like some of these promo posts are a little too polished including perfect links each time back to EA Sports. It will be interesting to see which posters go silent a couple weeks after the official release date.

If Jones ends up going to the Military Academy does he still play football in the fall for the Academy, or has he already exhausted eligibility at that level, and must wait to join Michigan before he plays again?

If posts like that don't convince you he's an EA plant, then you are in serious denial.  This isn't a comment on the post itself other than a post about Conelius Jones' likelihood of playing at a military academy is most likely not an EA plant.

However, I will agree that a couple of posts have seemed like plants.  Someone with about 21 points made their first thread yesterday touting positive reviews of the game.  Social networking is a real marketing strategy.

Thanks!

P.S. I wasn't specifically talking about this OP, but since you bring it up -- they easily could have put a plant up in December 2008 to hype NCAA 2009 and then use the same one to hype future rollouts (like NCAA 2011) or even other games (e.g., Madden, NCAA Basketball). It would be a very smart marketing tool actually. Hire three or four guys to work the major message boards for all the Div. I schools. If they haven't done this, they should.

Ordered from Dell and my estimated delivery date is Tuesday!  Woohoo!  Couldn't have worked out any better!

For those that originally got an email from Dell saying it would be around the 26th, so did I.  But then I got another one saying it was shipped with a tracking number and all.  Anyone not get that?

Yep.  Initially when I ordered, they said it would be later.  I got an email saying it would be around the 26th.  Then a few days ago I got an email that said it was just shipped.  Tracking number works and my estimated arrival is 7/13.

Did anybody else get the 20 bucks off from the EA store? I ordered mine in march, got an email confirming the order two days ago or so. They gave me a tracking number, which I tested on UPS, and the order is processing. Anybody else that ordered from EA know when to expect the game? Since it's from EA straight up, I would assume I'll get it Tuesday, but I have no idea. I'm not gonna be pumped if I have to wait past Tuesday to play.

I got my email too.  So we'll have to see when delivery takes place.

And while I don't blame those who cancelled if they have to wait till July 23 or whatever...I can wait till Thursday to save $20.

Not sure if you will see this, but I just saw that the EA order I put in is UPS shipping and it says second day air. I'm thinking it will ship monday, but I would think that I'll be playing sweet, sweet NCAA Football by wednesday. Actually I won't be playing it, but the game will be at my house, at least.

You guys are all creacking me up.  Seriously that is the funniest thing I've ever heard that I might be an EA plant, and I wish because then I wouldn't have to waste $60 every year to play last year's Madden game in college jerseys.  But at last I'm not a plant, and thank you for the evidence to that fact, by quoting my Jones question (love the research).  I absolutely love Michigan Football, and can't help but want to spend the 2 months prior to every season playing Michigan to the Title game.

To the comment asking why so many posts about NCAA.  What else is there to talk about?  I'm not a soccer fan, so the World Cup holds no interst for me.  The King James saga is mercifully finally over.  Recruiting has its ebbs and flows, and there is no one to get excited about (please come to Michigan Hart) though I appreciate the depth we are building for the years to come.  I can only comment so many times about where my favorite place to eat in Ann Arbor is.  So what else are we going to talk about?  At least this is football related, put as a forum topic vs. diary topic, and it's a Saturday, so there aren't going to be any big posts today anyway.

After looking at those changes, about 99% of the problems I had with the demo are fixed. I continually got tore up through the air on long passes by the CPU, so I'm glad they took 2 measures to help with that. Defenitely making a midnight trip to WalMart on Tuesday morning.
