OT- It's Friday! What's in your glass?
The weekend is here, what's everybody drinking? I am sipping on a few limited Blue Moon Samplers. Not the best, but for a mass produced beer, not too bad. Currently having a Short Straw Red Ale. Interested to hear what everyone's having on the longest day of the year...
Mango smoothie from Burger King.
Don't judge me!!
Checking out the Back forty in grand rapids tonight.
Small and usually crowded.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
Might crack open a Dogfish Head 60 minute ipa tonight
pinnacle, rose's, tonic
Dr.Pepper (still at work).
Short's Dan's Pink Skirt IPA. Impressive summer patio IPA.
Been wanting to try that!
so jealous - i have a great little local grocery store that no one goes to but they have a FANTASTIC beer section, and I am waiting for them to get some in. I bought Beard of Zeus there the other day and thats another fantastic beer.
Did you happen to try Hopstash -- Yet another i am trying to get my hands on?
Beard of Zeus is really good!
That's a great one. I like the Controversius Maximus, too (aka Double Hangin' Frank).
Ol' Trusty in my book.
A nice Brewery Vivant Zaison.......mmmmmm. This micro from Grand Rapids has an awesome brew selection. If you are ever there, try it out.
A few of my friends work there and, from what I've heard, they're like the best employers ever.
After a rather long, somewhat aggravating week, I am delving into a present someone gave me - a six-pack of Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy. Good stuff. Just sitting around doing the modding thing and watching the Tigers game.
At the club for pig roast and we be sippin' on crown and ginger tonight.
Maximus IPA. Wonderful stuff except over 8% ABV. So just 3 tonight with brats.
Studying right now so the drink of choice is water, once I am done I will most likely have a Brewery Ommegang Hennepin - I think its my favorite beer that is offered year round.
Im posbanging everyone too - its a good night.
Dead Guy. Wish I could find the Double Dead Guy in bottle
After imbed fail.
Madison River Brewing Company
Salmon Fly Honey Rye
Seagrams VO Gold 8 year blend and seven up.....
Stone Enjoy By 7/4/13.... Same ole same ole.
ugh - you always are drinking the best beers. I am jealous...
What are the top ten best beers that you have had?
taunting us with tales of growlers at The Lost Abbey.
Maybe I should do that next week.
Its not as good out of the bottle as it is on tap . . . hopefully she's drinking it out of the bottle.
My favorites are mostly from Alpine. They make the best IPAs overall imo. Nelson is my standby fav. But this particular batch of Enjoy By is right up there. So, here is a list of my favorites:
Pliney the Younger
Keen Idea, Bad Boy, Nelson, Pure Hoppiness, Duet (All Alpine)
Ugly (Black IPA-Alpine)
Pliney the Elder
Enjoy By 7/4/13 is best yet
And there is a new place out here called Society. I like their IPA 'pupil'
Basic every day stuff like Sculpin (Ballast Point) and 30th St IPA (Green Flash) are just great to have around
So, I just like IPAs. the more citrusy and hoppy, the better. Nelson has the New Zealand hops, and thats my preference. I did try an amazing Peanut Butter Stout from Mother Earth in Vista (north San Diego County). But i usually stick with IPAs.
As a side note, I am taking my kids to San Francisco next week, and will be visiting Russian River...the river and the brewery (pliney is their claimmto fame). I WILL be enjoying a pint or two.
We are spoiled out here.
I hate you so much right now
Just had my second one.
I've had several of the batches of the Enjoy By releases and so far and they have not disappointed. Really helping promote awareness for fresh beer. Makes all the difference in the world, particuarly for IPAs.
Honestly, I'm more interested in the Alpine beers you often post about. Nelson is a favorite, but also love Duet, Exponential Hoppiness...basically any of their IPAs.
I'm sure Brian would hate it, but would love to set up some MGoTrades with others so people from one region could experience great beers from elsewhere.
Cheers.
Oh, and for me tonight, I had a Zombie Dust (acquired via trade) followed by a Two Hearted (on tap where I had dinner). Also sitting on some Maine Beer Co. brews (Lunch, Weez, Mean Old Tom). Tonight I found a couple of bottles of Bruery's anniversary ale Bois. Looking forward to trying one and laying the other one down for a year or two.
I've cellared my Bois. A beer exchange would be tremendous. Have you had White Oak by the Bruery? I think its amazing.
Makes amazing beer! A good friend goes up there and brings stuff back. I've had White Oak--good stuff!
I think they are on par with RR, although they don't have quite the following/cache. They do a fair amount of unique beers without striking out the way that Dogfish or New Belgium does with their LoF series.
I really like the BR Cafe 15 - I think that is just as good as any Enjoy By I've ever had.
What is BR Cafe 15?
Bear Republic
Exponential is good too... But I have had some not so great batches of Expo (too alcoholish).
Nelson and Duet are great because theyre a bit different from each other for a good change of pace. But they make some special ones/seasonally--like Ugly (Black IPA), Bad Boy (dIPA) and I just tried Keen Idea. That might possibly be my fav, but Ive only had it once. It was magnificent.
You are right about the Enjoy By. I feel like Stone is sort if overrated and commercial, so I was really surprised to try that, and each release has been better than any. I just hope they keep making that beer.
Beer trading sounds fun. I would be game.
That stuff is delicious. One of my favorite Stone brews. Couldn't find it in a bottle here in San Diego. Just on tap.
I have bought it at Bevmo (!!! I know!!!) and Stone has a store in South Park and Liberty Station. Pretty sure you can get it there.
Thanks for the heads up! I knew about liberty station but didn't know you could get to go bottles. Cheers!
I am guessing you can get it at the other stone locs. Not 100% tho. I would call ahead.
On the patio with Oberons. Switching to silver bullets or Tito's soon. Happy weekend gentlemen.
Fitting that I follow up a comment about great beers with my rather boring selections. So be it.
At an event with open bar - brandy old fashioneds all night!
I think I'm going to make one for myself tonight. I love me some brandy old-fashioneds.
They are a little sweet for my tastes but still good to have whenever I'm in WI
It is just a solid summer beer.
Rufie's and tonic water.
Jack Daniels for some unknown reason.
Agave nectar ale. Mehhhhhhhh
A rocks glass full of Macallan Cask Strength after a LONG strategic offiste meeting (The Lakes Course at Grand Naional on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail) with my boss and others from work. Bogey golf at it's finest.
