OT: It's Detroit Lions day on ESPN.com
There is a plethora (horrible, misused and abused sports word) of articles about the Lions on ESPN.com today. A couple of them are actually really good:
Kevin Seifert: 'Fixing The Lions' http://myespn.go.com/blogs/nfcnorth/0-6-384/Fixing-the-Lions.html
Seth Wickersham: 'How the Detroit Lions Will Win Ten Games Next Season' http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?id=3775715

How the Lions will win ten games next season? Are they dropping to DI-AA?

No, I hear the NFL is taking after the NBA and NHL and moving to an 82 game season.

In that case, 10 wins is probably way out of reach.

no, see, the author misused "year" he meant "decade" the letters are so close together.

If they hire the right personnel, trade the #1 pick for depth and draft wisely, if the division is weak (it sure looks that way)...
No sports league features annual out of nowhere turnarounds like the NFL, where the line between horribleness and mediocrity is very thin.

That's why the Lions' ineptitude is so incredible. They haven't even stumbled onto an 8-8 season.

You'd figure eventually the Lions have to turn around. I mean, the past decadeish, the Falcons have gone from Super Bowl to shitty to NFC Title game to shitty and back to playoff contention.
But as long as the Fords are in charge this team is dooooomed.
