OT: Iowa Hawkeye's star player is sweeping the shed

Submitted by Kewaga. on

An interesting article* on Iowa's attempt to build and propagate a winning culture and it sounds like they are on the right track.

Good for them, it would be nice for Iowa to step up in the B1G West.  I for one have always appreciated their blue collar work ethic and wish then all the best this season (save the one/two game(s) that I shall be in attendace).

*  [Edit at 2:15pm:  What makes it interesting is that it's based on a book that all of the players are required to read.

Though the 207-page book, authored by James Kerr, details years of principles instilled by the world’s most successful rugby team, the All Blacks of New Zealand, it speaks profoundly to the current state of Hawkeye football.]

If Iowa stepped up and Nebraska and Wisconsin do their part,  plus throw in the fiesty Wildcat or Gopher on any given year... then yes WD, perhaps you might be a little more impressed with them dominating the Big XII North #2..

We know Iowa has trouble stringing together successful seasons consistently.  Additionally, we have lamented on the lack of strength in the B1G West.

So here is a team that is attempting to create, cultivate and progagate a winning culture at a location that inhertently is at a disatvantage.  To think outside the box.  To instill in it's men values that go far toward building character both on and off the field.

I for one acknowledge, applaud and encourage these efforts and thought the the board might be interested in knowing what's in the head of our future opponent.

They're good. 4th best team in the conference. The usual whiner of posts below wants me to respect a team that lost to both good teams they played. Their bowl game was over after the 1st.

Give respect where it is due. This shit right here is a huge cause of your issues. You don't have to try to shit all over everything that isn't Michigan all the time. Your schtick; it's tiring.

edit; stick to stats and fire gifs.

Cool story bro- Jake Rudock and a bunch of the Iowa football players ate at the restaurant I worked at (Village Inn) a while before he was drafted. Jake was the one who reserved the seats for everyone and was very respectful. He even came up to me and shook my hand before he left. He seems to still have a great relationship with his old teammates, which implies that he is still well liked by his former teammates and didn't leave on negative terms. As for Iowa's football program, I hope they do well... But that's it. Their fans are either super nice or literally the worst. How they missed OSU, MSU, Michigan, And Penn State last season is an incredible mystery to me. Yet, they complain why no one takes them seriously. This season, they get Michigan at home/night and miss OSU/MSU once again while playing absolutely no one in the OOC. Isn't Michigan playing at Kinnick back-to-back seeing as they were just there 2yrs ago? Feels like it's been forever since Iowa played at the Big House. Plus I hate the fact that they have pretty much owned us since like 2009. They're a good team and easy to root for, just as long as you're not a Michigan living here. I kinda just realized that I low key hate Iowa football and I literally just graduated from there... Fuckem go blue

They're pulling all this philosophy from a book written about a New Zealand rugby team called the "All Blacks"; for one, how OUTRAGEOUSLY racist, and for two, judging by the picture, I don't know that there's a single one on the whole team! What gives?

I guess the only question I have about the book then - without reading it as yet (I might for the hell of it, because I could use some summer reading) - is this:

Would th All Blacks punt from their opponent's 36 yard line?

OK, one more question -

Would the All Blacks roll out a 4 TE set on 2nd and 15?

Sort of curious what other lessons Iowa football picked up here...
