To the likes of a bunch of undefeated teams? You say that like that's not impressive. I don't know if you've caught Michigan this year, but, if i could compare them to the "likes" of TCU, Boise State, and Cincinatti, I'd be a happy man. Iowa should feel like they have to market themselves, they're coming from a weak conference while playing only one actual opponent out of conference. Oregon, if undefeated throughout the rest of the season, looks much better than Iowa does, with just one loss versus a top 5 team, and a tougher conference schedule.

has the best record in school history to this point in the season; they're just trying to get maximum credit for it. In the BCS, the worst outcome is to finish third, just outside the national title game. The press release addresses the point that Iowa has played a difficult schedule, but not the issue of how Iowa has looked playing that schedule. The BCS computer rankings are not allowed to use margin of victory, and Iowa ranks highly there. Human pollsters recall the tight games and late-game combacks and see a team which is undefeated, but only 5-6 plays from .500.
My favorite line from the press release:
Only one team in Big Ten history has defeated Penn State, Michigan State and Wisconsin on the road in the same season (Michigan did it in 1997).
Whoo-hoo!

At least not yet. Sure there's plenty of BCS BS to come and the Hawks may very well get screwed. But they've won every game on the schedule so far. That's all they can do. My hat's off to them. It's not always pretty, but I'd kill to have their defense.

They should wait until after they play OSU.. talking before then might make them look foolish and will give opposing teams a reason to think that Iowa is looking past them.

I'm definitely not questioning Iowa's record, or the fact that they are a good team. I'm very jealous of the undefeated record, and the defense. I just find it a little funny that they feel they need an official press release basically talking them up, and showing that they have a better schedule than Boise St. and TCU. It just struck me as funny. All that being said, I would definitely trade places with them right now. They are getting the job done, winning games. Hardly anyone remembers UNI anymore.
