OT. I Like Sparty Boss!!!

Submitted by Blue boy johnson on

I like when Sparty Boss comes on with Sam and Ira, he is a really good guy. I can't even specify anything Sparty Boss has said to make me like him, but he always adds some fun to the show, despite Sam's endless haranguing of the poor fellow.

My listening habits are sporadic at best in regards to WTKA in the morning but IIRC Sparty Boss was/is dealing with a health issue, best of wishes to you good sir. You have at least  one Mgoblog fan out here Sparty Boss! Thrilling I'm sure.

If Sam is getting on your last nerve, leave a message here, and I will bring a can of green and white whup ass down to the station! You hear that Sam, be nice to my boy, or I'll head over to TKA and messy up  your color  coordinated outfit.

Aside to Don, your boy JJ from Lincoln Park was in rare form today, hope you had the opportunity to hear his insights.

Heh... I was listening this morning, and as soon as he said his "maize and blue dobbers are down this morning... etc etc" I knew what was coming so I turned off the radio for a few minutes until the storm passed. I'm not sure I would associate him with "insights," although he has informed us all about how Willie Heston is the most underrated Wolverine of all time. About 40 times. I'm sure there are people who turn off the radio when I call in, so it all evens out.

What in hell is a "dobber" anyhow? Dauber? Dabber?

Sparty Boss actually was diagnosed with colon cancer, and IIRC had a bunch of intestine removed. Last time he talked about it sounded like he was doing OK.

I don't mind his periodic appearances on the show. He seems good-natured enough about it all; it's miles away from the mouth-breathers on MLive or RCMB.

I'm a huge fan of Sam Webb. He has a bright future in radio and sports journalism in general, and UM could not have a more devoted, loyal, tireless, intelligent, and entertaining media personality working on its behalf than it does in Sam. The only person I'm aware of who can come close is Brian Cook, but what he and Sam do are vastly different, albeit with the same ends and goals and passion.

I must have tuned in just as you tuned out. I missed the dobber stuff. Bob Lanier is one type of Dobber while the bloody scots have a different definition. Bet the Dobber has a big dobber based on those sixe 22 shoes

Urban Dictionary: dobber

dobber - 22 definitions - a dobber is a penis. Used in Glasgow and the surrounding places instead of saying 'Ya [cock]', ya [dick] etc.

I think our man JJ needs some Viagra since his dobber has been down so much lately.

That being said, Bob Ufer used the term with some regularity during his broadcasts, and I doubt he was referring to the swingin' salami. There must be some other colloquial meaning.

Speaking of Glasgow, the most frightening car ride I ever had in my life was in a '62 Ford convertible being driven by a piss-drunk Scotsman in full kilt and regalia. I was hitchhiking back from Kalamazoo where I'd been with my WMU girlfriend, and this drunken Scottish guy picked me up outside of Jackson. I just about jumped over the side of the car on I-94 in Detroit after I decided that taking my chances there was better than listening to his stories about Glasgow as he was weaving all over the freeway.

of Sparty Boss. I don't listen to WTKA very often, but those rare occasions when I am listening and Sparty Boss pops in are usually comedic gold.

Gold, Jerry! Gold!
