OT: Henne Vs. Brady, Who do you root for?

Submitted by bdneely4 on

I know this is a little late, but I thought I would get MGoblogs opinion as it is the only one that counts in my book.  So who do you root for, Henne or Brady??

It is hard to go against Henne since he is so new to the NFL, but Brady is at the top of all my arguments for who Michigan has produced as a top NFL star.

What do you say??

I want Brady to win one more Super Bowl to make him the greatest ever. Then Henne can take over so that a Michigan QB can be on top at all times. Then Denard can come in and break the NFL QB mold.

I've got home and away Brady "M" jersey, his Pats jersey, and a Brady bobblehead. I would have said Brady even before the Lloyd Brady phenomenon, but that clinched it for me.

Seriously, for whatever reason, I've always been a huge Brady fan. I think it dates back to how he was screwed over by Lloyd Carr in 1999. I learned an important lesson from the '97 National Championship team. 5th year Sr. starting QBs are invaluable. So what does Lloyd do against state in '99? He gives Henson huge minutes in the first half. Henson was supremely gifted, no doubt, but he threw one costly INT and was 6-12 in the game. Brady was 30-41 in that game.  Plus, we were rolling under Brady going into that game. We fell behind sparty 27-10, and Brady rallied us back, only to fall short 34-31. Had Brady played the whole game, I figure we win that one and go on to win another national championship. Our other loss that year was the next week against Ill, clearly a hangover game.

If I ever met Lloyd and had the opportunity to ask him 1 question, it would be why did he play Henson in that '99 UM-msu game.

I just root for lots of fantastic plays from the QBs. I think I'd rather see Henne win though. I'm young enough that I don't remember Brady's wins in great detail, so most of my fantastic memories of Michigan football come with Henne at the helm.

We've had some great passes by both of them so far.

They showed different highlights from Henne and Brady's careers at Michigan and talked a bit about their time there. Gruden then went on to say something along the lines of "I dont think either of these guys could start there today with the way Denard Robinson is playing."

Denard gets a name drop after talking up Brady and Henne.  It is a lot of Maize and Blue love on ESPN ... maybe some recruits are watching

And we damn well should be.  You can say all you want about how bad our defense is, or how bad our competition's been, or whatever else.  But the fact is, we have the single greatest player in college football and it makes us all act like 6 year olds in a local Ben and Jerry's

Mike Trico, who I believe lives in AA, was talking about M and Gruden butted in and said neither of these guys (Henne/Brady) would start at M today.

They laughed and mentioned DROB.

He certainly is big time, he gets mentioned in a league he doesn't even play in on the game of the week.

Brady is one of my favorite UM players but I'm starting Henne tonight in Fantasy Football and my opponent is starting Brady so Henne is my favorite UM player tonight.

For me it's easy...Brady! He's already in the conversation as one of the greatest QB's of all time. Add another Superbowl ring or two and he will have a legitimate claim on the title. Oh and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy...Oh and did I mention Giselle?

I actually drafted Brady and I picked up Henne on waivers (which was really dumb b/c they both have byes next week, but oh well) and I had the choice tonight, so I went with Brady.  Right now, it looks like the wrong call, but a lot could still happen.  I also have Gostkowski, the Pats kicker, and he currently has earned me more points than Brady, and is only .96 behind Henne.  C'mon  New England, get that pass game going!  I am pulling for Henne to do well also, of course.  Not exaclty the offensive shootout that most of us hoped for on here...

Can't help it.  It's like rooting for the younger brother when the older one has already won a lot.  We want multiple Super Bowl winning Wolverine QBs.

I knew there would be a lot of Wolverines in the game but I didn't realize that Vince Woolfork is already in the NFL. Michigan Secondary Hating Gods!

Brady.  I'm an old-timer, I guess, but my last memory of Henne is him not taking himself out against Ohio State in his last game, even though he was too hurt to compete.

Also, if you value charisma to any extent, Brady has lots, Henne none.

Whoever will have the better team, win a championship, and add to the greater glory of Michigan. Lately that's been Brady. This game might decide it (though it's looking to stay that way right now). Thought lean Brady through no fault of Henne, too. He lived downstairs from me, so I had met him, and rooted for him when everyone was calling for Henson. And I'm hoping another championship will solidify him so I stop getting hives anytime I think of someone catching a football on their helmet.

thrashed in this one. Henne threw some bad picks though but Miami can blame their special teams big time! Two blocked punts which both turned into touchdowns didn't help the cause either. Henne is still a good quarterback but he still makes some risky passes.
