I was wondering Season 6 of WHAT myself? Would have been OK of GOT was capitalized and season and trailer were left in lower case. But ALL CAPS kinda disguises the whole GOT aspect. But I guess allcaps is what youdo when you're excited...

SIX MONTHS UNTIL HARBAUGH SEASON TWO!

The last twenty minutes of last season's monstrous "Hardhome" episode was one of the most thrilling sequences I've ever seen. Up there with Raiders and Jaws and Breaking Bad for me. That's a tough list to crack. I'm all in to the fiery/icy end. Try it sometime.

I'm one of those insufferable book fans who are going to wait until The Winds of Winter is published before i watch thtis season.  That being said, the trailer looked gangster and I hope y'all enjoy it and I don't get many major plot points spoiled.

Not watching GoT - couldn't get through the books, sorry - and this isn't worth its own thread, but:

Is anyone watching The 100? My students told me about it. Fantastic show.

I've read all the books (long enough ago now that I don't remember key details in sure).

Martin is an excellent writer. I love the world he made. I like listening to podcasts about the show just because it's so clever.

All that said, he seems to have poor discipline. He writes achingly slowly and has threads upon threads upon threads that I think will ultimately go nowhere. Also, his world view is too dark and cynical for me (something which the bits of show I've seen seem to double down on).

I'm on a pause to wait till the series is finished (if ever by him) to see where it goes and if it's worth finishing. Most likely it will be if he finishes it.

I'm a huge Tolkien fan. But to be fair Tolkien worked for decades on his universe, often with input from some literary Giants, in relative anonymity. His world is quite well put together now but you can see how he had issues over the years.

I wonder what ASoIaF would be like if it had been finished, cleaned up, and released in a similar fashion.

But I can't wait for the series to end.  I don't think he'll get it done.  And from what I've read, the story is going to die with him.  He won't let someone else write it.

There's a good youtube channel called Alt Shift X which release fan theories etc.  I can't believe how many layers there are to the story (If even half of them are true).  I can see why he can't finish the books.

Which are the good podcasts about ASoIaF?

A history of Westeros and Game of Thrones: the podcast.

The quality is.... okay. The information is fun though.

The cynic in me wonders if he's spending so much time on the road, and on the show, because he knows that this thing he's created has grown beyond his ability to complete.

The 'Show is different from the book' thing is weird to me too. Its like having 'The Story of Troy' based on the Iliad' where Troy wins. 'Dude! Did you see Hector kick Achilles arse last night!'

Just werid.
