OT - Get a good workout in and donate to a good cause next Saturday

Submitted by white_pony_rocks on

So I wanted to let everybody know that the gym I am working at is moving to a new location, 3751 Varsity Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.  To celebrate the move  along with the fact we are going to start offering Bootcamp classes, my boss decided to hold a Grand Opening celebration Saturday, June 2nd.  We will be offering 3 bootcamp classes, starting at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 AM.  The classes will be a $5 minimum donation with 100% of all proceeds going to the Alzheimer's Association Great Lakes Chapter, located in Chelsea.  There will also be a raffle of a 2x per week, 1 month semi-private membership and a 2x per week, 1 month Bootcamp membership after the classes are over along with the unveiling of our new nutrition manual and a presentation of the new supplements we are going to start offering.  Classes are capped at 20 participants each, so if anybody wants to participate you'll need to call and register for a specific start time.  Below are the links to the Facebook page and the website so anybody who is interested can get more information on the Grand Opening and the gym itself (the website may be under construction for a bit but it still should have info on there).  Also, my boss plans of doing a charity Saturday of Bootcamp classes every couple months for a new cause.  I think we are already planning one for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Huron Valley Humane Society, but if anybody has any ideas for any future ones let me know and I'll pass it on to my boss.  Hope to see you guys out there!

At work, we've done CFF and Monroe County Humane Society. We've also done Gleaner's Food Bank (twice) and the St. Clair Butterfly Foundation. Right now, we're raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Good luck on the move and kudos for the charity portion (Mott's is a possible suggestion as another charity).  That being said, atleast with how it's worded as of right now,  this is comes off as an advertisement with more focus on drumming up business rather than the charity aspect.  As it is right now, IMHO, it has no place on the blog, no matter how slow it may be right now.

Guess im mixed here. It is a bit worthy of the ad title. Suggestion, give away a real monthly or year membership. Thats the incentive ppl look for and in reality wont cost you much. If you are really all about the donations that is. Tell the owner that penny smart is dollar foolish.

Question for you....I'm a Strength Coach/PT myself, and *might* be moving to AA in the Summer/Fall of next year, but I'm looking to get something kind of locked up in a few months. Is there someone I should contact at the gym to see if they are interested in my res/personal statment, or can I email you back and forth for a bit?  Despite my extremely new acct, I've been around the site for a looong time.

Thanks

I can't speak for him with regards to employment for trainers, I honestly just started a few weeks ago.  I do believe that he only looks at trainers that have a degree in exercise science, as the new trainer he just hired a month or so ago has that degree.  You can contact him through the Contact link on the website and he will respond either way.

One-on-one cancer support organization. Based in Chicago but founder is a Mich grad and from Detroit (was also recently honored by the College of LS&A for his work in the area). We have race teams at events all over the country (my brother will be running the Ann Arbor half-marathon for IA next month) and love to do events with local gyms/ fitness groups. Check out www.imermanangels.org, worthy cause to support.

(sorry for the plug, seems like a good opportunity to share some good organizations with Michigan ties and could definitely benefit from your program).

I would love to race for that if I wasn't injured right now.  I signed up for the Serious Series trail races for this summer last january and don't think I'm going to be able to run any of them.  I'll keep that in mind for when I can run again though!
