OT: Former Member of 58 Greene Making it Big

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

So it goes like this....was reading the Cheesy Video thread, someone mentioned Shakira, and I wondered how many people on this site remembered her before she was a blonde...which made me think of Estoy Aqui...which reminded me of U-M's own multicultural acapella group, 58 Greene, and the girl who sang it, Chau. Well, some group alumni research later, and I find out she's got her own band in LA, that's huge in Sweden. So, if I can give props to Indiana's Straight No Chaser guys, I have to give a nod to one of U-M's own who managed to find a career doing what she loved. If you want to check them out, here are their links, and if you're an LA based Wolverine, you might want to check out one of their shows when they're stateside, if it's your cup of tea. I think they're pretty cool. http://www.theyouknowwho.com/the_you_know_who.../Welcome.html http://www.facebook.com/pages/the-you-know-who/12612804699?ref=ts http://www.youtube.com/user/theyouknowwhoVIDS She's the lead singer- Go blue, and go Chau! And Taco's Puttin' on the Ritz should have made the other list...

And don't think I'd want to strangle the dog, even if I could.  Only thing I saw that went with your name that wasn't completely LSU related (though there was a dandy Stacy Kiebler shot) was:

And it's not that cool, I guess. Google doesn't have a lot.  Do what I did. Steal one. (Though I asked...lol).

And really, I hope people responding to WTF to this thread don't think I necessarily thought this was "hitting it big"...but I like to give follow alum nods, and thought not everyone might know what 58 Greene even was.  And if we ever get to another Rose Bowl, I'll check them out when I'm in LA.
