OT - FC Barcelona

Submitted by bamill010 on
So I'm going to visit some friends in Barcelona for spring break and I really want to go to a soccer match while I'm there. Does anyone have any experience buying tickets to European soccer matches? Do I have to buy the tickets beforehand or can I just buy them at the gate? Thanks for the help. Edit: Also, is there a good place to find cheap tickets?

Good luck getting tickets. Camp Nou is the Big House of Europe. Games always sell out. The best option is to go to the club's website (it's in English) and try to buy tickets through there. Good luck...I spent the summer there and would've killed to get a chance to go to a game (they were on their US tour while I was there, HA). But being in the city on match day is an experience itself. The whole place shuts down. Have fun.

Agree with STMirhza. If you go to the ticket office, don't do it day of. I'd order them online for sure. I studied abroad in Barcelona, it's a magnificent city. Hit up Chupitos on Les Rambles and another bar called La Ovella Negra. Do it.

You will have to become a member of their supporters club to get first dib on tickets. It costs around $100 to join for a year and you will get ticketing priority. If you want any chance at tickets, I think you will have to join as a member. The other benefit of joining is emailing the head of the supporters club in America telling them you are a "member" and asking them for their help finding tickets. Instead of just telling them you are going for spring break and want to catch a game, I would frame this as your pilgrimmage to finally visit the Camp Nou. Trust me - this approach has worked for me in the past. I would also do a tour of the Camp Nou while you are there. For any soccer fan this is essential as you get to see the locker rooms, trophies and even get to go down on the pitch. Good luck! http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/english/socis/fes-te_soci/nova/fes-te_so…

Games never sell out except against Real Madrid or Champions League, the stadium is well over 90,000 and they play twice a week. There is a small ticket office on the southern end of Las Ramblas (you'll know what that is once you get there). I don't remember the exact details but you'll have no trouble getting tickets for as low as 10 or 20 Euros.

I've seen a game at Nou Camp. It was one of the most amazing sports experiences I've ever had. I went to this game (from Wikipedia): In the following 2000-01 season, Rivaldo was once again the second best goal scorer of the league. In the last game of the season, against Valencia, Rivaldo scored a hat-trick to win the game 3-2. His third goal was a bicycle kick from the edge of the area in the 90th minute of the game, and is regarded as one of his greatest goals ever in a combination of importance and skill.[6] The win secured Barcelona a place in the following UEFA Champions League tournament. We all ran onto the field and I have pictures of myself lying across the top goal post and hanging from the net. Unreal. Anyway, we bought tickets the day before the match at the stadium, and there's a subway stop pretty close by. They were expensive for a league game but it was well worth it. Go Barca! rivaldo stayed at barca one more year, then played for milan for three years, then cruzeiro for one year, then to greece. also, he hurt his face at the 2002 world cup when a turkish player hit him in the leg with a ball, causing the turkish player to get sent off.
