OT - Favorite Apps

Submitted by Saint_in_Blue on
It has been a while since I've seen this topic posted on the board. And I'm terrible at keeping up with this stuff. I've recently upgraded my phone to the Nexus 6P and now in search of some new and exciting apps. So what's out there? What are some apps that you guys/gals can't live without (besides MGoBlog)?

Because I'm paranoid as fuck. Read the permissions granted to some of them sometime. Why the fuck does any application need to shoot video and record sound without my knowledge?

To take it full circle Bill Burr also has a short weekly podcast called the Monday Morning Podcast.

I also have a thing for agony aunts (advice columns/shows)...in particular: "my brother, my brother and me"(actual bros who are a little nerdy but surprisingly feminist-friendly)

and "ask me another", which is British and has a lot of funny British lingo. I recently learned British people call drinks like mike's hard "alcopops"!

One of my faves is the Google Street View app with Google a cardboard. You can go anywhere in the world with immersive 360 degree VR without leaving your living room. If you have it try searching for the Mackinaw Bridge. Google took their street view camera to the tip of one on the towers. It's quite a view. It's also worth going to YouTube and searching for "Google Mackinaw Bridge" for a very shirt movie of how they got the camera up there.

Onion Ring Loaf.  If only there were any Damon's around anymore.

Sort It! apps - Movies was great to scan all my DVDs/Bluerays to have my collection on my phone.  Does cost a few bucks.

Skyview is fun to find stars and satellites.

Twinspires: horse racing, you can place bets and watch races. I mostly use it to watch stakes races when I'm not at home.

Chess.com app and Lichess: both chess apps.

Hearthstone: just started playing and it's fun and pretty addicting.

Twitch: I use it to watch chess but plenty of other games to watch.

Um. I have MGoBlog, ESPN and YouTube, which I never use.

That's all. I have too many things I want to do in real life to spend time fucking around with apps.
