MGoBlog and only MGoBlog.
Every other app is expendable. Unless we're counting Netflix/HBOGo as apps.

Because I'm paranoid as fuck. Read the permissions granted to some of them sometime. Why the fuck does any application need to shoot video and record sound without my knowledge?
February 14th, 2016 at 9:33 PM ^
Then why do you have a smartphone grandpa?

And the answer to your question is that they don't make good flip phones anymore. I'd buy an updated razr flip in a second.

It's like my parents who won't buy anything online but think nothing of handing their credit card over to the waitress or sending a check (with their bank account # printed right on it) through the mail.

What makes you think they'd even want to record anything you have to say or see? Please record me telling my wife how much I hope Carl is going to die

If you don't know who Bill Burr is you need to go watch his comedy. By far my favorite stand-up comedian. His bit about grocery stores collecting personal information for a savings card is classic.
February 15th, 2016 at 8:08 AM ^
Bill Burr is a genius! My personal favorite is the bit about owning a pit bull and him ramping the dog up all the time!!

To take it full circle Bill Burr also has a short weekly podcast called the Monday Morning Podcast.
I also have a thing for agony aunts (advice columns/shows)...in particular: "my brother, my brother and me"(actual bros who are a little nerdy but surprisingly feminist-friendly)
and "ask me another", which is British and has a lot of funny British lingo. I recently learned British people call drinks like mike's hard "alcopops"!

I've been looking for a pod catcher that doesn't suck. Apple's is buggy and unreliable. I tried Stitcher but it is only nominally better and I don't like the interface.

I LOVE Pocket Casts. It's setup a lot different than all the other stupid podcast apps. It's customizable and easy to find podcasts.
February 14th, 2016 at 11:08 PM ^
I've been using Downcast for about a year; works pretty well.

One of my faves is the Google Street View app with Google a cardboard. You can go anywhere in the world with immersive 360 degree VR without leaving your living room. If you have it try searching for the Mackinaw Bridge. Google took their street view camera to the tip of one on the towers. It's quite a view. It's also worth going to YouTube and searching for "Google Mackinaw Bridge" for a very shirt movie of how they got the camera up there.

Chess.com app and Lichess: both chess apps.
Hearthstone: just started playing and it's fun and pretty addicting.
Twitch: I use it to watch chess but plenty of other games to watch.
