OT: Even China hates Georgetown
The Georgetown basketball team is currently on a goodwill mission in China, where their game last night ended two minutes into the fouth quarter with a bench-clearing brawl, and a fantastic one at that.
Total schadenfreude.

Thank you for fair and balanced coverage. I feel better informed and less inflamed now.

Thank you Shoe. I agree the OP is a dick for posting a title like that. Fuck the Chinese for this shit. Go America.

Your little rivalry with Georgetown is cute.

The aggression is definitely coming from the chinese team.
This aggression will not stand, man.

What a clusterf*ck of a game. What are the odds the Chinese basketball federation issues an apology?
August 18th, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
About the same odds as the Chinese govenrment apologizing for anything.

That was insane. I'd love to see those bitch-ass Chinese basketball players come to the US for a game, I doubt they'd make it out alive. That was pathetic. And then the fans start chucking stuff at them as they walk out. Pathetic.

I agree the Chinese team overreacted (and start bringing chairs into the fight), but the first punch is thrown by a Georgetown player. I understand that the free throws were 57-15 in favor of the Chinese team... but perhaps the Georgetown players were legitimately fouling them and playing too physical for a friendly?
Amazing how racist people are.. especially in the espn comments:
"Two wongs dont make a rite (sic)..."
"The refs couldn't see cuz their eyes are slanted"

He tries to throw the ball up the court and he's yanked across his throat.
4 second mark.
Didn't realize that members of the military play for the Chinese basketball team. That sheds a little light on how they responded as quickly as they did.

I do feel for the Chinese here though, I would have a truckload of anger built up too if we sucked across the board at the sport we cling on to so desperatly. I mean with 4x the free shots and a tied score who could keep their wits about them?
August 18th, 2011 at 7:46 PM ^
Insensitive yes, but racism? Er
Racism has to be the most overused, least understood word. It is the belief that one's race is superior another. I don't see expressions of racial superiority in either sentence.

Saw the video, and frankly is sounded like the GTown players had simply had enough. a 4-to-1 foul discrepancy plus some chippy play by the professional Chinese team is likely to create some tension, and I'm not surprised it boiled over. Will be interesting to see if the NCAA will continue to push so hard for US college teams to visit China after this incident.

What is the guy in front doing with the ball still? Its like his first time off the bench. " Ah come on guys, coach said I can play now"...
