OT - Eli Manning or Stafford?

Submitted by RichRodFollower on
Question: With Brady having a bye this week, do I play Eli @ Philly or Stafford vs. the lowly Rams. I don't know for certain if Stafford will start... Thanks for your opinion!

Why is this downvoted? Does anyone seriously believe that Matthew Stafford is better against anyone than Eli Manning is? Seriously? I don't give a crap about the points but come on, I know we have some Lions fans here, but let's see things for what they are and realize that, ok, Stafford might have some potential down the road, but right now he and the Lions are simply no good.

I don't know everything about football, but Stafford isn't terrible - he's a rookie with the Lions. This week against the Rams, if he had CJ, he may be a viable choice. The comments have told me that my initial thoughts were correct... Besides, now that I've chosen Eli, Stafford will most likely have the game of his young career. I appreciate your first respones though.

Eli is a good quarterback. He's not great, at least imhe. Right now, I'd take Eli because he's more productive, polished and experienced. But Stafford with 4 years of experience will be better than Eli. Far better arm. Much more Favre-ish than Eli.

I thought this was going to be a hypothetical about "which QB would you rather have if you were an owner?" and I was going to respond with "apples v. oranges". Still, you can't let matchups overrule talent. Eli by a landslide.

With Calvin Johnson being banged up, they will look to run the ball. Philly-Giants should be close so Eli will probably have to throw the ball early and often.

and had a fully healthy CJ - I would say play him. This Rams team may be the worst of all time (yes, worse that the 0-16 Lions). However, since health is a concern play Eli, despite the tough matchup with the Eagles defense.

Eli's been struggling a little lately and Philly's D is tough, only giving up 219 ypg through the air and 19.3 points per game. While St. Louis gives up 259 passing ypg and a allows a whopping 30.1 ppg. Just something to think about.

Stafford's not even guaranteed to play. Even if he does, lacking Calvin Johnson will hurt him badly. At best, Stafford might have a slightly better game than Eli because the Rams suck so much. At worst, he doesn't play or the Lions run the ball all game, and your QB nets you nothing.

I know the Philly D is tough but they just gave up like 245 yds and a score to Cambell who was without his pro bowl TE for 3 qtrs. You have to take Eli no matter what the matchup Stafford has. He has better depth at reciever and all his weapons are healthy. CJ is the best reciever but that's all he has as far as recievers go. Hakeem Nicks seems to be stepping up nicely now that Mario and Smith are getting more coverage. I also think this will be a breakout game for their run offense since St. Louis is horrible against the run as well. Philly has a stout run d and so I think the Giants will have to throw more.
