OT Dorial Green-Beckham to Sit 2014 Season

Submitted by aiglick on

It looks like there's some resolution to the Dorial Green-Beckham situation. He will have to sit this year per the WWL. Link is below. We were talking about him possibly getting a waiver aweek or so ago while Ty wouldn't; this is not the case.

Kudos to the NCAA for making this decision.

Our own waiver case should possibly be resolved shortly.

Interesting.  There was speculation by some of the sportswriters here in Oklahoma that the only way Bob Stoops would have taken Dorial is if he guaranteed that he would play for Oklahoma, even if that meant sitting out this year and playing next season.  They also acknowledged, though, that even if he made such a guarantee, there would be no way to hold him to that.  I'm guessing he says all the right things, practices with the team, and declares for the NFL as soon as he can.

He would definitely get drafted, but right now he's the definition of an undesirable red flag. He has all tr potential in the world, but he hasn't shown to be a game changer on the field yet, so GMs would be less likely to overlook the legal issues, and more likely to result on him not getting as much development time in pro camp before being possibly cut.. Playing for an additional year, showing game changing ability throughout the season and staying out of trouble for two years would put him in the first round.

...horrible PR move to take the guy, fight to get him on the field, lose, then he never play anyway because he leaves for the NFL draft.

No way he slips past the Cowboys in the 2nd round. It's not the Jerry Jones way.

Does this mean he takes up a scholarship at OU? Also, can he still work on the scout team? If so, perhaps having his skillset on the scout team is worth a scholarship to Stoops. I dont know enough about these things, but I can see how having a very talented, tough cover on your scout team can only help your defense.
