Interesting considering there were all these ESPN stories talking about what a class act he was and good student in HS.. looks like all that ended once he hit college

Green-Beckham and his younger brother (who has leukemia) were adopted by his high school football coach in 2009, after spending years in foster homes. It was a heart-warming story at the time—a talented kid from difficult circumstances (one of six siblings who never knew his biological father) is adopted by his coach, and goes on to a fantastic HS career and then commits to the in-state school, Missouri. He's now had three run-ins with the law, and Pinkel cut the cord. He'll lose a year of playing time if he goes to another FBS program, so it's either sit for a year or move down a division.

If he'd been able to keep his shit together, he was a sure first-round pick, and probably top ten.

Tyrann Mathieu was in trouble for tons of pot use, i.e. a non violent crime. DGB is pushing women down stairs and robbing people. That's a significantly worse sign of character.

Also, DGB has been a gargantuan disappointment, so now he's really made it tough on NFL teams to draft him in the first 4 rounds if he does eventually qualify for the draft

The story is that he forced himself into an apartment looking for his girlfriend and pushed a women down the stairs.

The police were going to charge him with assult and burglary, but the girl decided not to press charges.

Here's the incident report: LINK

I asked Drayton why she no longer wanted to go ahead with prosecution and she stated that she was afraid of the media and community backlash since Green-Beckham is a football player...Drayton stated she was afraid of being harassed and having her property damaged just because she was the victim.

Text from DGB's girlfriend to victim: "He will be kicked out of Mizzou and not qualify for the draft next year." (1/2)

Text from DGB's girlfriend (2/2): "THe coaches talked to me and explained to e [six] how serious this is and there's no time to waste"

Adults (in age only) let these kids have a different set of rules (or none) from an early age b/c they can score TDs, put a basketball through a hoop, or hit a baseball a long way.  They have been taught they're above the law.  If you've read Friday Night Lights about the Dallas Carter team, you know of what I speak.

I don't think this phenomenon applies to DGB's behavior--it's probably about his childhood--but the attitude of the Missouri coaches (if this is true) is reprehensible.  Pinkel & staff should be fired for pressuring victims to look the other way.

Excerpts from Pinkel's statement can be found in the Kansas City Star article here - LINK

From that statement:

“Dorial’s priority going forward needs to be focusing on getting the help he needs. As we have all along, we will continue to do everything we can to assist Dorial and his family. We care deeply about Dorial and his well-being, but hopefully he can benefit from a fresh start.”

I believe that just the other day Green-Beckham had released a statement of his own saying that he would seek counseling and basically owning up to his decisions to date. The article also talks about some of the other incidents in which DGB has been involved as well as the numerous run-ins other Mizzou players have had with the law recently.
