OT: Dallas (Alabama/Michigan) Hotel/Trip Planning
I know it's a ways out but as the spring game draws closer, the opener against Alabama also draws closer...and this 65 degree weather in Michigan isn't helping things.
At any rate, can anyone recommend hotels in Dallas? We are flying down from GR to Dallas on Friday and leaving Monday. We are about to book the Sheraton Dallas Hotel downtown - looks to be a good location but we'd like to be close to the "fandom" and aren't sure if it would be downtown Dallas or closer to Arlington? Any insight on where to stay, what to see (bars, restaurants), etc. would be appreciated!

A thread from about a month ago includes posts that answer most of your questions.

Thanks - that thread did a good job overall. I'm just trying to pinpoint specific hotel options downtown.
Downtown Fort Worth is quite nice, just make sure you are actually downtown.
As far as Dallas goes, the best place to stay would be anywhere in the Uptown/west village neighborhoods or anywhere near SMU and Highland Park and University Park.
The Sheraton downtown is a huge hotel and likely affordable on the weekends. Drawback is you will have to drive everywhere. It's in a business district.
I would map the crescent court hotel and stay anywhere in that vicinity close to McKinney ave.
Enjoy Dallas...Go Blue!!!

Most pre-game "fandom" activities are in Fort Worth and Arlington, not Dallas. Fort Worth and Dallas are ~35 miles from one another, Arlington is in the middle.
The official University tour accomodations will be at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel. http://michigansportstours.com/kickoff/

Pappadeaux's is close by the Stadium, it's a great seafood place/bar plenty of TV's, there are a couple other places along the road in front of the stadium but you are still a little ways away from the stadium. Pretty sure you could land a few planes in the stadium parking lot.
"Pappadeaux's" and "great food" should NEVER appear in the same sentence together. You need to get out more.

I hope you don't spend most of your time frequenting craiglists' "intimate encounters." If so, you're in for a long (last?) weekend.

1st, I have close friends who live in Elk Grove/Flower Mound area about 20-25 miles north of Dallas and they have a 5000 sq ft house, so I'm good there.
2nd, and this is a more important matter, how the hell do I get tickets and not overpay for them? The damn tickets will cost me more than the flight to get there it seems like.
Well, they're from Mississippi originally and he's an SEC Fan, I'm still trying to figure out how to get tickets, if he went with me he would be rooting for Bama, although he respects the hell out of Michigan. Maybe I'll have to tap into his connections somehow and yes they are pretty rich.
Parking is $75 for cowboys games.
I've stayed at that Sheraton and the location is great for seeing Dallas in general - sure there will be plenty of Michigan fans there - nice place
