OT: CMU's Marcus Keene Leads Nation in Scoring
Just thought this would be a fun little topic to throw in with the Michigan win last night.
Not sure if anyone is paying attention or noticed, but the nation's leading scorer resides in Mt. Pleasant. Dude is averaging 30.7 (!!!!!!!!!!) PPG which is almost a full 7.0 points more than the player sitting in the second position. And he's a pretty short guy, only sits at 5'9.
CMU hoops have been relatively dormant lately so it's finally nice to be able to point something positive with the program.

4 games with 40 or more, 1 game with 50.

Thinking I'd be able to dunk one day because of this guy. Never happened...
His vertical was estimated at about 50". Given where his head is in this picture, I could easily see a solid 48", if not more.

Now, did they achieve this by having Manute stand about a mile behind Muggsy, or is this due to a very severe depression in the floor?
I had nearly forgotten how tall Bol was. Yikes. 7'7", as I recall.

Hey! It's the guy from Space Jam!

have Mugsy Bouges, Earl Boykins, Isiah Thomas like NBA talent, or is his scoring (although pretty dominant) a product of playing in the MAC.....?

Kay Felder. They can score against anyone. So I don't think it's a product of playing in the MAC.
That being said, he's a total volume shooter.

then again, he wasn't exactly lighting the Horizon League on fire with Youngstown, was he?

WMU last Friday night when they were on CBSSN. He's an electric player. Gets a bit out of control sometimes, but he doesn't shy away from the moment. The other thing that most people miss is, his backcourt mate (Braylon Rayson) is also a dynamic scorer. Averaging 20 PPG. Highest scoring backcourt tandem in the country.

I wouldn't want to be the team that faces them as a 2 or 3. Very dangerous.
They have the firepower to pull of a big upset or two. Whether or not they can defend for a full 40 is another issue.

They haven't shown the ability to do that against MAC teams. 333rd out of 351 teams in adjusted DRtg on KenPom. Woof. A team like UCLA or Kansas might hang 120 on them.

Than the typical 13-15 seed. Having one of the better backcourts in the country can cause trouble for anyone.
But this is just assuming they win the MAC tourney and get in. Akron is the class of the conference.

They can't even handle a 15 seed. What happens when you lock them in the shed with a 14 seed?

Sportscenter loves him as well. They are always popping in with Central highlights to show Marcus Keene.

He's operating in a permanent heat check. A shot chucker in every sense of the word. He was taking and hitting shots from the mid-court logo last night (admittedly a big logo that stretches into the frontcourt). Hard to complain since his shooting percentage was excellent. Just agreeing that you can't really stop a guy from jacking up a shot if he doesn't care where he's shooting from or how "guarded" he actually is.

Their offense allows him to get so many shots up. Keno has really opened things up from the way they used to play. 6th fastest pace in the country last I had looked.

My childhood hero. 1973 led NBA in scoring and assists. Best little man ever until Isaiah.

Fire up Chips! Of course he arrives two years after I graduate.
