OT: Christmas or Hannukkah Present / Gift You Always Wanted But Never Got.
Just a fun / light Holiday topic. I always wanted a pair of Jordans as a youngster. I am 41 now, and literally bought my first pair (Air Jordan 1 Retro Premiums) as an early gift to myself. So what is the one gift you always wanted but never got, and would you buy it for yourself now? Nothing like trying to heal childhood wounds as an adult. LOL.

The odds of a kid who wants a "top of the line band instrument" in the worst way being anything but a good kid with a bright future has to be like 1 in 1,000.

You REALLY wanted to say that, didn't you? Was it what you always wanted for Christmas?

Recently, although prior to Christmas - a win against OSU. You know....maybe ONCE in five years would be acceptable at this point.

Hate to break it to you Bro, but Santa doesn't wear 'Red" for no reason. You need to hit up the Easter Bunny for a Michigan win.

A real light saber
December 18th, 2017 at 11:25 AM ^
My son is planning on inventing a real light saber in college.

He would win ALL the Nobel awards for inventing this.

I'll pre-order five of those now, thank you very much. For......five of my friends, of course.

What color will his lightsaber be....

Tell him to hurry up. And put me on the waiting list now.

which color they wanted.
He's only 6 though, so there's going to be a bit of a wait.

I'm hoping he's a real life Doogie Howser then. And, blue. I want a blue one.

I wanted a real computer, like a Tandy or an Apple IIGS, instead of my bullshit Commodore 64.

In the early 70's I wanted a Honda 80 because three of my friends had one. After my friends suffered through multiple broken bones, I'm probably better off having not gotten one.

I think I always got what I wanted. Most expensive thing I ever asked for was game consoles. And I never asked for anything my parents would have been offended by.

I wanted Zero Gravity Cliff Hangers racing cars. I put it on my Christmas list for years when I was a kid.
As a joke I put it on my list when I was 21 and my mom finally bought it for me. I told her she was about 10 years too late with this gift. Just for fun, as a 21 year old I took it out and raced them around the track only to find out they would not stay on the track and flew off everytime.

and have a killer three point shot and low post game. Alas, Santa has nothing to do with genetics, which is interesting, because he manages to deliver toys on time every year and still look the same.

Man you were cool if you had this - because you could pass on it as opposed to the Mattel original. I remember it was tough to find for awhile.

I wasn't stupid enough to ask for one, but I did send for their catalog a couple of years.

Five-year old Sleepy would'vd lost his goddamn mind over this thing. Sadly, his parents felt that his broke-ass Huffy bike was good enough. Sigh.

Only 9 years old and ready to take on the great Jayne Mansfield. She was before my time but damn if she doesn't look like Marilyn Monroe.

They had a mess of them in the Sears catalog, all with lawnmower engines. I wanted one in the worst way, but nope.
December 18th, 2017 at 2:29 PM ^
Me too.
I eventualy tried to make one with an old frame and an old Tecumseh lawn mower engine. Turns out that the aligning the chain correctly mattered a lot more than I realized.

When I was a little kid there was a cool Caterpiller bulldozer in the Sears catalog that I circled year after year but never got.
