Serious question. How the hell is this guy a freshman at 21 years and one month old? Don't know if this has been discussed/mentioned before.

Being a freshman isn't dependant on your age.

The count down starts as soon as you take your first class.

Those that forgoe college for a few years to either work, join the military or for whatever reason will have 5 eligible years to play collegiate sports from the very first day they set foot in a college classroom.

I believe this has been discussed here many times.

I'm not vouching for this and I have not followed his career for long, but I read somewhere that he immigrated here and was behind in his schooling, which accounted for his age when graduating high school. I'm not sure if that's true or not.

Check entire BYU roster.
Not implying anything illicit, naturally, just there is an entire team full of players several years older than their competition because of their extended Mormon missionary work. Not unheard of.

Many reasons for players in the past. Don't know Ridley's situation.

Mormon missions, military service, minor league baseball, poor academics, immigrated and was behind in schooling (often happens with refugees, in particular)
