Battlefield is like a combination of Halo with Call of Duty. I played the Battlefield Beta when it came out and it was wayyyy to "video-gamey" for me relative to the CoD's. The new CoD: Modern Warfare 3 comes out on Tuesday this week and it looks AWESOME. Modern Warfare 2 was by far the best CoD game of the series and I think that MW3 will surpass it. At the end of the day its all down to personal opinion though, some people will say Battlefield is better and others like CoD

tried the bf3 open beta. All anyone did was lay in a bush and snipe when you moved. Every time I played all I did was get pissed off.

Personally I don't think Call of Duty has come out with a real good game since COD4. MW2 and Black Ops were OK but I didn't like them as much as COD4.

I'm real excited for GTA V! Anyone else see the trailer that was released this week? Looks pretty bad ass.

Call of Duty is much better than Battlefield in my opinion. I have BF3 and COD Modern Warfare 3 (yes, already), and I think MW3 is much better. Just my opinion. Go Blue!

Edit: And I agree, all things considered, COD 4 has been the best of them.

Modern Warfare 3 comes out on the 8th but if you don't want that for some reason, I'd recommend COD4 (my favorite) or Black Ops (which I get bored with easily but still the second best)

Battlefield games are more hide and snipe or require a good team play and area lockdown

COD lets you play more freely fun n gun style little more arcade less real life sim

Personally I find COD more fun but find Battlefield more rewarding when you can find good people to play with.  I have kids and can only play at random times so free flowing fun n gun works better with my shcedule.

I love th CoD series. Any of the modern warfares are great. I fully expect mw3 to be the best of the bunch. I have yet to play a battlefield game I enjoy. Cod ftw. Also the only good thing about black ops to me was zombies. Mw2 had much better multiplayer in my opinion. Hope that helps. If your on 360 my name here is my gamer tag

As some above posters said, COD4:MW is probably the best game of the series, but if you're gonna go get one now you might as well not be left in the dust and get the new modern warfare. Even though activision rolls out both lines of COD games, I vastly prefer the modern warfare ones way better than world at war and black ops. Although, I'm on whatever the newest one is cuz that's the one all my friends are on. Seems like the modern warfare games feel less cheap from the user interface to the maps to the guns, and the other ones focused too much on the zombies thing.

Call of Duty 4 is amazing thats the first modern warfare, Modern Warfare 2 is great, and the newest one comes out next week. Stay away from black ops and WAW.

Each have their strengths and weaknesses, but I think a lot depends on how you're playing it.

On PC, Battlefield is just looks and runs so much better.

On consoles, Modern Warfare is just looks and runs so much better.

All other things being equal, I prefer MW's arcadey gameplay over BF's more realistic, tactical approach, but I can see how someone would prefer the other.

Anyone saying Black Ops is good is on crack.  MW and MW2 were great but BO ruined the entire franchise for me.

Battlefield 3 if you want strategy and vehicles

MW3 if you just want to kill people

Is better in some ways that BF:BC2, which was previously the best multiplayer game you coule get, if you were willing to invest a little time in learning its idiosyncrasies.  It's aligned a little more along the traditional Call of Duty play style than previous games have been.  Don't judge it by the beta.

Call of Duty has been weak since Modern Warfare, which is the best of the series with the possible exception of the very first game.  MW2 multiplay was just awful, at least from a PC gamer's perspective.  I never experienced any problems that a lot of folks had with Black Ops out the gate, but I still don't think it was exceptional.

I think it mostly boils down to if you want to invest some time and play a bit more of a thinking man's shooter vs. instant access campaign on rails, balls to the wall multiplayer that is CoD (this is not a comment on BF3's singleplayer campaign, which is virtually non-existant and is very similar to a Call of Duty game.).  Or, if you have a nice PC, get BF3.  XBox/PS3, MW3 may be a better setup.  In any case, I'd wait for the reviews of MW3 to come out before jumping on it.  If it has moved in a new direction, it may be a good pickup, but from the previews, it looks very much like a rehashed MW2 with some multiplay tweaks, and does it while not looking all that stellar (engine-wise).
