OT: Bye Weeks

Submitted by husker4life on

I see that Michigan is not playing untill next week against Penn State so I was wondering what do the fans up in Ann Arbor do on game days when their team isn't playing. Nebraska is really all I watch team wise but I do catch a couple of other Big 12 and Big Ten games when they're on tv. Do you guys watch OSU play in hopes they blow it? lol.

Seriously, I am a college football fan too, so I'll watch games this Saturday.  Especially if an upcoming opponent is on.  In this case, I will be looking for the Penn St v Minn game.  As brutal as that game may be, I want to gage PSU before we play them.

So that they are 'mightier than thou' when we trounce them. I'll probably end up homework, but most weekends I would watch other games, too.

Would not have been so sweet had the Buckeyes come in with a loss (they did have a tie in '93, though).

Those are just the ones I personally experienced, though. I was a little too young to remember the '69 game, for instance, which is another classic example.

So does that mean I root for the Buckeyes from time to time? Typically, no, but I have a realpolitik attitude towards their non-Michigan games: I will root for them occasionally if I think it does Michigan good.

Every Saturday. Aside from watching us play I watch every single game possible. Normally flip through at least 2, or 3 sometimes 4 games at a time, whatever one interests me at the time. My heart won't race as much but I want the taste of the last two to go away. So I will be thinking about next week quite a bit.

I'll probably try to watch or listen to the PSU vs MN game.  My guess is that it could be close which will bode well for us the week after.  I may keep an eye on IL who worries me a bit, also Purdue and WI.

I'm taking the wife to the MGM for the night. Hey-does anybody have any suggestions for things I should not miss while we're there? I live in Cleveland and have never been to the hotel before.

I was just about to say that too. Plus, I'll add that my liver needs a much needed break as well. I'll only drink 6 beers on Saturday instead of 12 and 4 shots of whatever the hell is in that shot glass.

not only does Michigan have a bye week, but the Lions also have one this week. No football I care about at all on a given weekend really sucks. However, it is usually one of my most productive weekends in terms of school work here in Ann Arbor. Still though, it sucks having one of my teams in a bye week, but having both in the same week is cruel and unusual.

Normally I am at the Michigan game and we have a tv with DirecTV at the tailgate so before and after the game we watch other games.  On the 2 or 3 aways games that I do not attend I will make sure to have 2-3 TV's set up in the living room and watch as much football as possible.

On bye weekends I will watch alot of football but I am normally not as glued to the TV as I would be for a football weekend for Michigan.

As per our relationship contract, my girlfriend is alloted ONE weekend every fall where she takes priority over football...but the contract never said anything about hockey! Go Wings!

OT - It would have made more sense if UM's fall break would have been this weekend instead of last.  At least then when students leaving AA they are not missing the game and players can get a little more of a rest.

"Dad, you're actually coming to my swim meet this Saturday? Did Michigan's season end already?"

I hate bye weeks, but they contribute to family harmony around here. Until my wife catches me sneaking away to catch scores and highlights from other games. Then I get "the look."

I tell all of my buddies and their girlfriends that if they want to get married in the fall and they want me there they had better schedule it for Michigan's bye week. That is where I will be this Saturday.

will be starting with the EPL game of the week on Fox Soccer,   looks like Chelsea vs Wolverhampton.  Better than Game Day!

At noon I'll be primarily watching Michigan State/Northwestern, with look in's on PSU/MINN and Pur/OSU.  I frequently have trouble focusing on non-Michigan Big10 games, so a brief nap might come into play here.

At 3:30 I'll be watching Auburn/LSU and keeping an eye on UW/Iowa

At 7 Alabama and Tenn kickoff, which should be good for about 15 minutes, then I'll probably lose interest and catch up on some work around the house.  Oklahoma plays Missouri at the same time but I just can't get into Big12 football.

  At 10 its  Washington/Arizona.

Not a bad TV weekend, but I wish their were a couple bigger matchups to watch.

Thats pretty much my thursday night and my weekend slate for games. Love watching the big time Thursday night games when i got nothing going on. Got to check up on PSU again and make sure i feel we have a good shot and WIS vs. IOWA is gonna be quite interesting!
