OT: Brandon Inge once made Chuck Norris cry
Okay, so I'm browsing at mlive, and a link leads me to a discussion of some of the stuff Inge has done, for the sake of voting him into the All-Star game. Based on the direction the list went at the end, it couldn't be avoided.
The list included:
* Inge was a closer in college at VCU, and would come into games from third base without warming up in the bullpen. Against my alma mater, Inge came in and struck out the side with nine straight fastballs, topping out at 96 MPH.
* Inge reportedly hit a home run off of the Comerica Park scoreboard with a metal bat. That scoreboard is well over 500 ft away from home plate.
* He can dunk a basketball, kick a 50-yard field goal, and drive a golf ball 400 yards.
And so I add:
Brandon Inge once hit a home run by giving a ball sitting on the ground a stern look until it picked itself up and ran clear over the center field wall.
Brandon Inge does not drive himself to Comerica Park. He teleports there on pure will power.
A lot of people don't know that Brandon Inge is actually faster than Denard Robinson.
When they raced, it created a quantum singularity.
What kind of fast are we talking about? Football fast, baseball fast or track fast???
actually once made an out at second base on a batted ball that he hit, if that tells you how fast he is.
Comerica Park (The House that B-Inge Built) was actually built by Inge in a single night after he pondered how to fight urban blight near the Fox Theater.
but i still found it hard to vote for him (even though i did) because i still remember him demanding a trade cause he wasnt an every day starter coming out of spring training last yr coming off a yr he hit .236 and promtly followed it up by hitting .205 last yr ... remember his carrer average is only .239 with right about 15 HRs a yr ... my point is that while he's hot now, baseball players END of the yr numbers often come back to look more like their carrer averages
I think you are misunderstanding what the All-Star Game represents. It's supposed to include the best players from the first half of this season. Last year and beforehand are irrelevant.
but Inge is a career .257 hitter at third base. Again, not saying it's special, but I think the .239 career average is a little lower than what he truely is. (Career average as a catcher was .199 if you were wondering)
But yeah, like another poster said, he made the team based on this year. Nothing else plays a factor.
