OT - BP Ad Slogan

Submitted by jb5O4 on June 2nd, 2010 at 6:51 PM

It's really unfortunate seeing whats going on with the oil spill down here in Louisiana. I worked on a fishing boat in south Louisiana a few summers ago and its sad seeing people like the captain I worked for be out of work.

My brother sent me this, he says it was a BP ad slogan in the 90s. Not sure if thats true but it is a little humor on an unfortunate event.

Not to defend BP's epic Phuck Up, but I've always liked that they get only a very small percentage of their oil from the Middle East.   That never gets mentioned, of course.

That's almost certainly due to economics and not a good conscience.  BP is responsible for the two biggest American industrial disasters of the decade, the other being the Texas City explosion.  The dickheads didn't learn their lesson after that one. IMHO they don't deserve any sympathy.

Fun Fact: BP began in the colonial era as the Anglo-Persian Oil Company, later the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company.  It was the result of a concession granted to William Knox D'Arcy by the Shah of Iran under the thumb of his imperial overlords in Great Britain.  The company was threatened briefly by the election of the nationalist Mossadeq, but a CIA orchestrated coup--with support from the British--returned the shah to power.  BP was allowed, once again, to virtually monopolize Iranian oil. The shah was finally removed by the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

BP doesn't get their oil from the middle east so I guess we should forgive them for destroying the gulf ecosystem since at least they were taking oil from outside the middle east.  -5000 points to you a-hole.  Why don't you head down to ground zero and take a swim in your speedo.  Might give you some perspective as to how serious this is.

The BP rep. who was trying to down play the incident earlier must of never thought his cell phone number was in that much danger. Randy Prescott (lives in Houston) TX....(713) 323-4093. Give him a call, I did, he wasn't too happy. Or, if youre more of the Email type, drop him a line at [email protected]. I'm sure he'll appreciate all the feedback we give him.
