Submitted by UM Fan in Nashville on

Anybody heading down to the Greater Nashville (TN) area for Bonnaroo this summer?

Pretty killer lineup for this year.

Some of the big names:

Elton John, Jack White, Kanye West, Lionel Ritchie, Vampire Weekend, The Avett Brothers, Phoenix, Skrillex, Arctic Monkeys, Flaming Lips, Ice Cube, Lauryn Hill, Frank Ocean, Cake, Amos Lee, Broken Bells, Umphrey's McGee, Fitz and the Tantrums, Wiz Khalifa, John Butler Trio, and many many more.

The complete lineup is here:

I went to the first 2, then continued to be dumbfounded at why I didn't continue going every year.   The lineups get more and more ridiculous every year.   Not to mention all the other activities that they will anounce.

This will be a tough year to pass, but I don't think I'll be able to go, even though it's only 45 minutes (6 hours in Bonnaroo traffic) away.

Outside of Elton, Cube, and a few others it's kind of meh to me.

I went for the Jay-Z/Dave Matthews/Stevie Wonder year and then the next year for Eminem/Arcade Fire.

Two of the best weekends of my life. Highly recommend going. Especially if you can stay in a hotel or live nearby. I lived in Murfreesboro when I went and would cruise home late night, sleep in AC and return the next day.

I saw Cube live in Indianapolis with Above the Law, 2pac, Digital Underground, and Public Enemy back in 1993.  Easily the best rap concert I have gone too.  Each artist accompanied by a live band, and all at a small venue.  Great concert.  Unfortunately, Cube will probably do a very few song from the Pre-Predator days.  The rest of the hip hop lineup looks like a snooze.

I'm sure Kanye puts on an entertaining show with plenty of visual excitement.  He has to do something to keep you from paying attention to his crappy music.

I know, right? F that dude for taking his talents and turning it into millions and millions of dollars. I would have turned down every movie/endorsement deal along with the millions that came with it, in hopes of preserving my image as a great 90's gangster rapper... (as if that image isn't still, firmly in place)

having seen both in the past 6 months, Vampire Weekend and Arctic Monkeys both put on fantastic shows.

from the rest of the lineup: Neutral Milk Hotel was amazing. I've heard some less flattering reviews lately, but that was not my experience in Boston. seeing Warpaint and the Head and the Heart at Boston Calling in May. Okkervil River might not be big yet, but I really enjoyed them live.

bah. I need to get down to Bonnaroo or Cochella one of these years. at least Boston Calling is growing.

I have been to 5 and my wife has been to 8 of them. Not sure if we can afford it this year, but I do have some advice. You can go in a big group, just drive in all in a line and camp together. Bring a Michigan flag and a really tall pole to help you find home. Be prepared for dust/mud and bring those water bottle fan thingys. Pay the extra for VIP - showers, close to everything, no lines to get in and really easy to sneak beer in and save your cash. See at least 20 bands you've never heard of. Try the silent disco! If you like psychadellics, the sound forrest is a must. Be prepared to get lost all the time, and realize it's really no big deal. Check out the comedy tent but show up early to get in line. Don't bring glass bottles, load up on cans or bring pony kegs. Bring a huge extra cooler just for ice. I'm sure there's more but that's all I got right now. I hope we end up there this year, but 2 kids in daycare is hurting the funds bigtime....

Avett Brothers, Disclosure, Broken Bells, James Blake, CHVRCHES, Chance the Rapper, Cloud Nothings, POLICA would be the ones I want to see the most.

EDIT: I just saw BANKS was on the list. I would really want to see her live, and she is pretty hot too.

Awesome band and a great line up. I've gone down there several times before and maybe I'm turning into an old man but I don't want to camp in 90 degree heat with a bunch of hillies anymore. Now, get off my lawn.

In Nashville back in December. Their first CD, Within and Without was what I was used to. Love every track on that CD. Played maybe 4 songs from the album at the concert. Seem to be very unknown at this point. They're pretty mellow (original stuff) but pick it up with later albums. Do like Kaskade as well.

Over priced, over populated by douchebags. Horribly set up venue, you will walk 20 miles a weekend. Not enough Porto johns, terribly hot with no shade or terribly wet and muddy. Low quality Molly and pressies, mostly meth bombs. Bunk doses that are rc's. fuck bonnaroo. It would have to be one hell of a line up and this is hot garbage.

I would strongly encourage anybody going to check out The Wild Feathers. I got to check them out in Lansing a few months ago and instantly became a favorite.
