OT: Bo Hat Available at Moe's

Submitted by DFW_Michigan_Man on

So there was much debate last evening in regards to the hat which James Joseph Harbaugh donned during the 1st day of Spring Practice as well as his press conference .

This appears to be the one, at it is a New Era without the logo.

New Era Block M 59Fifty - Navy - Navy

[ed-S: See my comment below. There is a logo on the side; this is just an outdated pic.]

It's the same one, they just took off the logo. Adidas reps trying to cramp Jimmy's style.

Also I did think it was funny that his daughter wore a Nike sweatshirt to the basketball game, sitting right next to her dad and Hackett... Brandon would have gone to Defcon 1, probably kept her out of the building.

More like 7-8 years ago. Went from the old wool to polyester caps. They don't really shrink and the crown doesn't 'sink in' as much. To me personally that always gave the cap a bit of character.

I still have this hat in wool. The blue is lighter now from fading, but it's still one of my favorites and a classic.

Have been wearing the New Era hat (with the logo on the side) for a couple of years now.  Imagine my delight when our very own Harbaugh ditched the superbold font and returned to the classic skinny block M.   My only issue is that they don't make a low profile version.  I have always felt like the original 59fifty hats sit really high off of your head and make you look a bit douchey.  Oh well.  If its good enough for Harbaugh, I suppose I can tolerate looking like Albert Belle.

The hat that Harbaugh has been wearing looks odd on him. The bill looks way too big IMO. It almost looks like he took a flat bill and tried to wear it like a baseball cap curved bill style.

That's what the 59Fifty is. He did the same thing with the 49ers once the NFL went to Nike, still rocked the NewEra. Weird because he had Nike at Stanford and the NFL was on Reebok earlier in his career.

New Era:

Reebok:

Edit: the size distorts the curve, but you can tell the New Era is a 59Fifty.

The New Era one is definitely what he was wearing. In the Spring Practice videos, you can see the M on the back of his hat, too.

The adidas version has an old adidas logo on the back. They have gotten rid of the New Era logo, somehow.

Bo sunglasses, headset and windbreaker. I'll be that guy on the plane Bo-ing it up and the plane also will be a Bo-eing. If per chance you should see the flight attendants restraining a Bo look-alike for barking orders through his headset, chewing grass and stomping about the cabin at disputable calls like "fasten your seatbelts" (Hell no!) that's probably me. General Patton was his own man too

I just got off the phone with the owner of Moe's and Underground and got the story on the Bo Hats.

Hats from before last year have the logo on the back, but all the new hats (i.e. all those in stock and available) have the logo on the side. The picture on UGP's website that the OP posted was one of the old ones--there was a New Era logo on it; just not visible in the photo--but they were updating as we spoke. This is the hat in the store right now:

Because it comes off the machine easier if it's flat and people can then make their own bend. I know leaving it flat with the sticker on became fashionable at some point (is it still or is that dead please say it's dead) but the point is for each person to bend to the shape of his/her forehead. The more round your head, the more you bend the brim to fit it. Yay: hats that fit!

This has been Seth's Lessons in Hats. Tune in next week when we show you how to remove the mesh inside to get a worn-in old-fashioned look.
