as like the dancing coach or something?

suffice it to say that would be a unique environment to work in.

She is not exacly a "coach".  Similiar to the administrative staff at UM, who none of us know their names, who work in 'no on-field contact with players' analytical positions and do not count towards our coaching staff #s.

Another way for a pro sports team to be PC.  Of course, this gets picked up and promoted by the media in a major way.  Who knows if she is truly qualified.  She has never come close to playing the game.  Makes me skeptical.  Consider this- would Gary consider coming to UM if his DL position coach was even a MALE who had never played the game?  Doubtful.

This isn't news.

Rex Ryan said she's been working for the 'organization' for 7 years - unclear if that means working for the Bills or for Rex Ryan - and now she got promoted so it sure seems like she's qualified.

Would be hard to be a player listening to a coach who never played though

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I just did some looking and it seems that, Hugh Freeze, Paul Johnson, David Cutcliff, and Chad Morris also did not play in at least college.

However, that equates to 7 (including the KC guy mentioned) of the 160 head coach positions in the top 2 levels of football. In my book, that does not equal "plenty".  I'm sure there are some coordinators and position coaches sprinked in there, too, but the point is the same.

Also, none of this has anything to do with the OP. Good luck to Ms. Smith in her new position.
