OT: Big12 Superconference to Kill BigTen

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
Posted this in the UV comments, but might as well leave it here to be explored. A Kansas City Star sports blogger says the BigTen should stop talking about picking off one of their teams and says the Big12 should pick teams off the BigTen. It's original and near impossible. Interesting read though: Break Up the BigTen!!! EDIT: Actually, this somewhat reminds me of a conference realignment set up by one of the California blogs last off season or the season before. I think the CAL blog had 12 teams instead of 16. Can't recall. EDIT II: It was Cal Golden Blogs: A Total College Football Realignment

Andy Staples' version was more interesting and wasn't written out of spite after finding out his favorite conference was far weaker than he thought it was.

The writer took subjective results from a terrible statistical study that he conducted without revealing his methodology in order to claim that the Big Ten was a poor athletic conference and then used it as an explanation for why the Big Ten should be broken up instead of poaching a Big 12 team of their own choosing. It was written out of bitter sentiment, especially when you consider that Missouri is expressing more interest in joining the Big Ten than the Big Ten has in Missouri. Meanwhile, he attempts to ridicule the academic components of the Big Ten, by calling the Big Ten "schmart". It's stupid and pathetic.

Schools are not being asked to join the Big Ten, that is soooooo last millenium. The Big Ten has announced that it's time to expand, and interested schools are expressing that interest. Big XII and Big East conference supporters are in denial.

The Michigan/Ohio conference has got to be trolling. I mean, he can't seriously think it'd be a good idea to put Ohio State in a division with Ohio, Toledo, Bowling Green, Akron, and Kent State? You'd at least need to move Cincy to that conference to even come REMOTELY close to making the Ohio division a contest. The Michigan division is interesting, but when you can't expect ND, MSU, and us to deal with being in the same division while Ohio State shouldn't even be bothered to get out of bed and play most Saturdays.

This idea is horrible in every way. No way that Michigan and Ohio State would be in different conferences. Also, why is Michigan in the Mid-East and Ohio State in the North East, when Michigan is much further North than OSU?

After reading the above link, I wondered whether the author was simply being passionate (if a bit misguided), so I looked at a few of his other articles. For the most part, they were simply dumb. His ideas are simply designed to benefit whatever teams he happens to like, without any regard to other opinions or reality.

I think this guy needs to get laid. Too much masturbation is bad for your brains. His answers to the comments are even worse than the article. P.S. Sorry guys for my language!
