Anyway, the other thread title was about free agency and this is a trade. Plus, how is the OP supposed to know it was discussed in a thread titled something that isn't inclusive of all NFL player personnel decisions? Are we all supposed to peruse all if the contents of every post before sharing something? This is just about as relevant as Moss signing with the 49ers and Howard making coaching decisions. At least it was labeled OT. Did this thread actually annoy people that much?

Strange that Miami, in efforts to lure Peyton in, trade away their best WR for peanuts. Unless they sign Wayne and Clark they aren't going to get Peyton now.

Wooo! Also, apparently they're looking into Jason Campbell for a backup QB. That would be nice too. There's even some talk about Mario Williams but I doubt that they'll be a serious contender for his services.

We need to have Lovie stand outside of Mario's house holding a boom box like John Cusack.

Lol, Brandon Marshall is not anywhere near worth the trouble. He only shows up half the time and if I had to put money on the next player to end up in jail, it would be him.  Jay Cutler + Marshall = most overrated QB/WR pairing in the NFL.

In 2007 and 2008 when Cutler and Marshall were together, here are Marshall's stats:

2008: 104 Receptions for 1265 yards with average yards per game at 84.3 and 6 TDs

2007: 102 Receptions for 1325 yards with average yards per game at 82.8 and 7 TDs

That sounds pretty damn excellent to me. Some people apparently don't like hearing the truth. Downvote me if you want, but your post is bad.

True, but the better comparison would be Pat Tillman to Chris Houston as Houston will have to cover Marshall. Or just Bears's scondary > Lions's secondary.

Bigger concern is my friend was telling me apparently there are rumors about the Bears getting Mario Williams, which would complicate things for Stafford's health if that happened. Dont know how likely this is though.

It's surprising that it's taken this long for the Bears to get a WR. As a Lions fan, I'd prefer them getting Marshall over Vincent Jackson. I've seen Marshall make some incredible catches but he has also had some serious drop issues. Still, good pick-up for the Bears.

I think he was referring to the past couple of years. They have been trying to make things work in Chicago with subpar receivers, but finally realized they need at least one big playmaker to complement Forte and the running game.

Chicago is only one year removed from winning the division and playing in the NFC championship game, so the more assets they add, the worse news it becomes for the Lions. We do have to play them twice a year still and I would much rather play a Bears team that has as few big play guys as possible. It is going to be a pretty strong division this year With Green Bay, Chicago, and Detroit.

I'm a big Bears fan, and from a talent and need standpoint this deal makes a lot of sense.

But Brandon Marshall's history makes it clear to me that he is a horrible, reprehensible human being.  If I owned a football team I would never employ him.

This is the dumbest thing I've heard from a Bears fan today. Sure, he has had past off-the-field issues but he's been much better behaved in the past few years. The man was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, which I urge you to read up on so you can understand where some of those issues have come from.

Jerry Sandusky is a horrible, reprehensible human being. Brandon Marshall is an athlete who had issues in the past.

And I urge you to read up on his relationship with women in the past (and I'll leave it at that).  I'm fully aware of his condition, and I'm also fully aware of his past.  And in consideration of my knowledge of both, I still think he's a horrible, reprehensible human being.

Also, I think we need a new version of Godwin's Law that replaces Hitler with Sandusky.  I'm not allowed to think anyone is reprehensible unless they're as awful at life as Jerry Sandusky?

I'm fully aware of his past. But I don't think Marshall qualifies as a horrible, reprehensible human being. Using such inflammatory language to describe a person in this way should be reserved for people who truly deserve it. Considering his condition and the difficulty in treating it, I believe he deserves a tiny amount of understanding and credit for admitting his problem.

Seriously.  I got negged and insulted last night for saying that I wouldn't take the risk with BM.  Well he has not even been on the team for 24 hours and news like this is already coming out.  I understand the mental issues, but that does not excuse him for anything.

....this trade does unease me just a little bit, especially since you're reuniting Marshall with the QB that rather put him on the map,and now this will make Earl Bennett just that much better while Marshall gets the coverage. It may not pan out so well necessarily, of course, but I think the possibility of this clicking should be of note to our friends in the Lions' head office if  your conference rivals are making these sorts of moves. They did, on paper, get better.

As for the questions about Marshall's behavior, he has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, and while that excuses nothing, it does put certain things in some sort of perspective. As long as he is continuing psychotherapy and making an effort to mitigate issues rooted in this particular problem, I would take the risk if I were the Bears if the upside is a Pro-Bowl quality receiver potentially.

Now, the real question - to whom shall Matt Moore pass in Miami?
