OT: Anyone want to buy a pair of Midlake tickets?

Submitted by Brian on
So: Midlake is playing at the Magic Stick May 22nd. I have two tickets and can't go. Anyone want to buy them off me for face-ish? They're 12 bucks each. Call it 30 total taking tickemaster screwage into account (which was actually more than double that). Anyone? Bueller?

What is the deal with Ticketmaster screwage? Is there another way to get tickets where you don't get charged an extra 5-10 per ticket? Really makes cheapish concerts/sporting events not so cheap.

ticketmaster is the cost to you of your venue selling its flyering to someone who can probably do it better. and your venue receives an upfront payment regardless of actual attendance. ticketmaster has a pretty excellent online infrastructure and user database compared to any small or new venue, so it's easy to see why it might be a good deal for the venue. less risk and it transfers cost from the venue to the consumer. it does also mean that they probably can't just pick any band to play the show. i assume ticketmaster has an acceptable band list or something.

edited from previous other response: what exactly did you take my response to mean? and exactly what are you saying? i was just thinking of a way to make ticket master seem less nauseating. i.e. as an investment in venues that you like. and that just followed from what i knew about how ticket master works. also, it's really difficult to defend yourself from being called contrarian by Brian on mgoboard.
