NO he was bad. All he talked about were celebrities, not really the game. John is a major upgrade.

I agree with cpt20. along with the celebrities, Kornheiser also talked every five mintues about how he knew or said that _ would happen, like he had foreseen it. He made it sound like he was Nostradomus or something. Gruden is a great upgrade.

The back and forth between him and Jaws was great.
Loved Gruden telling Jaws that Vick will sell more number 7 Philly jerseys than Jaws ever did.
It was great when Jaws cracked about Gruden having 83 different qbs during his time in Tampa.

Gruden was really good, especially for his first time.
However, one small complaint, I thought Jaws and Gruden's voices sounded alike. So one of them would say something, and if it wasn't in Jaws trademark cadence, I wasn't sure who said it
I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I really miss his radio show. He went off the air a few years ago in my market and got replaced by Cowherd who is a total tool. He wasn't very good on MNF but I think I liked him more than most people just because I had been listening to him on radio for a few years before he got the gig. I do like Gruden and at least I have PTI.

I like Gruden but Tony could fill the rest of the game if it was boring to watch. I dont think john can do the same. Tony was like having a sports minded Dennis Miller in the booth. Fuckin fear of flying never stopped Madden from fuckin up my football.

I think Gruden was a major upgrade over Kornheiser. I've just always found Kornheiser annoying and not very informative.

Bill Simmons once talked about how important it is to have someone that was recently involved in the sport to be part of the broadcast team.
Gruden brings a whole other level of analysis. As much as Jaws know about football, Gruden knows about the teams, coaches, and players much more intimately because he was just a coach.
Loved it when they were about to get into a big argument about Vick on sportscenter.

I forgot Gruden had taken that job... I couldn't connect the voice I was hearing to a face... But I knew whoever it was was really good... then I remembered who it was and was surprised. I had my doubts about Chuckie when I heard he got the job... nice debut though!

Can't stand him. His grating voice made me turn the sound down more often than not.
