OT: Alabama Teabagging Fan gets 2 years

Submitted by Shakey Jake on

This guy better hope he goes into a prison with a ton of Bama fans otherwise he's going to find out really fast how often he is going to get teabagged, among other things, while doing his stint.

The question is, would you teabag a drunk OSU fan?

I wouldn't. But i'd be tempted to dump the feces filled OSU cooler on him.

Lesson to be learned here. Don't get so wasted in public that you pass out in public. So with that in mind, what are you drinking this evening?

I live in Mississippi.  The Tea Party is big in Alabama and its members are sometimes derogatorily referred to as Teabaggers or with the adjective Teabagging.  Not taking sides, I really came to say no politics and was hit with balls in the face instead.  I didn't mean to offend.  Please excuse my assumption, it was wrong.

I'm sorry, but two years for a teabag is so over the top. Dude was drunk and it was a nut sack on some cry baby's face. The passed out dude is obviously embarrassed and wants to prove a point. Sending some guy to jail for two years is over the line in my opinion.

Says the guy who doesn't seem to mind sweaty nuts in his eye sockets.

If someone is stupid enough to do this to a stranger, they probably don't deserve to be out in public anyway.  I'm sure that it wasn't the sole indiscresion in an otherwise unblemished set of life choices.

Come on man, it's a sack. I was a swimmer in high school and a water polo player in college. I've seen some things you can't unsee.  Dude, I knew some baseball players that did this pretty much everyday to someone. Walking down the hall of a hotel wiping sack on people. Pissing on people in the showers. Talking to the hotel lobby person with their junk hanging out just for shits. This is nothing.

This is how I know my brain works way different than anybody else's.

I see it as no different than a person not washing their hands after pissing and then shaking hands with someone. Just as bad in my weird brain. I mean it is a part of your body that you touch on someone else. Why does it have to be "bad" because we humans think it isn't ok to be naked or show genitalia? I know my brain is weird. It's just how I think.

A man can show a tit, but not a woman... we wear pants, but my dogs dick is right out there in the open... I say poop and it is ok (even though it is still slang), but I say shit and people get all weird about it. I don't get people.

Why does it have to be "bad" because humans think that it's not okay that she was only 14?

Why does it have to be "bad" because humans think that it's not okay to pilot an SUV with a teletubby costume and a BAC of 0.3?

Why does it have to be "bad" because humans think that it's not okay to murder and eat those door to door sales people?  Is it because they are trying to turn their lives around and get away from the drugs and violence of the streets?  That's what they tell me, at least.

You're not the first person to note that social constructs exist, really. But they still do. No physical injury is caused by smearing shit on someone, either, but because society generally thinks shit is pretty nasty, this would be experienced as utterly degrading. It's not the empirical uncleanliness of the balls at issue here - it's the social humiliation and the violation of personal dignity. Note that I am not drawing an equivalence between poop and balls.

After reading the ESPN article, I'm more inclined to agree with you.  However, teammates do stupid things to each other.  Sometimes even out of disrespect, not just messing around.  But it is usually predicated around something, and is in context.  I played multiple sports, so I've seen it too.  This guy did it out of the blue, to a complete stranger.

This story is pretty sad, as the guy actually seems like he did make a single catastrophically bad decision.  He had a wife and infant, a district manager job.  But a 32 year old who does something like this still deserves to be punished.  I feel worse for his family.

and wants to prove a point."

That reminds me of Hangover 2 with Stu in the "brothel."  Bradley Cooper is like "you know how much fucked up stuff I have done, you just forget about it, it's gone."

Yeah, I have to agree that two years seems excessive.  He was clearly intoxicated, and well that does not excuse his culpability, it should certainly of played into it that he was amongst 85 other people that wanted to know why their car "was in the front yard" when they woke up.  My only guess is that the guy had a somewhat checkered past that could lead to the conclusion that this act was part of a bigger pattern of possibly alarming conduct.  I also think that a female judge was not his best draw, not to imply anything remotely sexist, only that guys being guys is usually not part of the equation in that scenario.  My guess is that this could have easily been a probationary offense if the equation would have worked out differently.  Once again, what he did was not OK. but he was not driving with a blood alcohol level somewhere in the mid-teens either, a deadly and common offense that usually results in a slap on the wrist.

Yes. On top of that, there were 20 other bama sacks ready to drop on that guy's face if this guy doesn't do it. 2 years is more than people get for seriously injuring other people; then again, shit if Jeramy Stevens had this judge he might have been in jail instead of going on an 8 year rape and DUI bender, so who knows.

what I mean regarding this guys past.  I am simply not interested enough to do any checking to find out, but my guess is that this guy has displayed some head scratching behavior at other times in his past, possibly misdemeanor assault or something that coud suggest a menacing disposition.  Either way, he won't serve half that time if he behaves himself (and possibly will be in a diversion type program with other harmless jackasses that need a good talking to), and he will note that "two small children to support, possible I should avoid genitial exposue in large groups."  Seem like a good rule to live by.

Seems about right to me. Dude made sexual contact with an incapacitated, defenseless person, and many thousands of people have viewed it. He's a sex offender, and if his victim was a cute girl instead of your "crybaby," I think a lot of people would want to lock him up for longer. The victim was defenseless, regardless of gender or size.

I think something like 30 days would have been a lot more appropriate.  The obvious sticking point was that it had to be plea-bargained down from sexual assault.  What he did was wrong, but I think just a few weeks in jail to realize that what he did was serious would have been enough.

Besides, Darwin has already "punished" him enough.

After reading the more in-depth article about these two men I am really, really sorry to hear about this sentence.  I mean, the guy was a complete stupid jackass, no doubt.  But the jokes in this thread aren't ringing very funny and the malice seems out of place.

Sure, he lost his job, a good measure of respect and his freedom for a period of time. But he is quite fortunate to still have a wife standing beside him, his child, and a society with a rather short-term memory. As the article mentions, I'd be surprised if the memory of this event in the general public follows him more than a couple years from now; they'll be on to the next "big" scandal or outrage.

We can hope that this guy counts his blessings and learns from his poor decisions. I hope this proves to be a cautionary tale to all those who have heard about it as well, but I fear it'll be lost on most.

but I never have a particle of sympathy for assholes, including this guy. Nobody forced him at gunpoint to do this.

I doubt he'll serve the entire sentence anyhow. He'll be out for good behavior as soon as it's legally permissible.
