OT: 49ers

Submitted by karpodiem on

Just happened to glance at the NFL standings this morning - the 49ers are 1-12.

That is all.

Sure, but it's because Harbaugh rubbed the players wrong.  That is why he was run out of SF.  According to peeps like Albert Breer...

I really do love seeing the 49ers flounder in the flotsam of crappiness.

Man, for Jim Harbaugh to destroy that team so thoroughly, then scurry away from that city in the dark of night, leaving innocent kind-hearted owners like the Yorks high and dry, is just shameful...

After they screwed up in every way possible and pushed one of the best coaches on the planet out so he was available to come to Michigan, they immediately became one of my favorite NFL teams.  I know they are so dysfunctional they'll never win, nor do I want them to-but I'll always have a warm place in my heart for Trent Baalke and Jed York and the wonderful Christmas gift they gave us two years ago.  Thanks, guys!

There is a nice article on The Ringer today about the franchises sad state.  It had a lot of Harbaugh references in it and I could only smile.  They (The fans) hate Baalke and York so much.  I wish I could give them both a hug for giving us Harbaugh.

are going to have to step in and help him run the franchise.

LOL, given all the silver spoons in the world and you still need mommy and daddy to help you run their business.

That's the Notre Dame education for you!

Chip Kelly perfect example of a good college coach who failed in nfl. His system shows why coaches like him or Urban Meyer are not a fit for nfl. NFL will always be a pro style game with hard nosed defense. All those cute things read option system offers in college never works in nfl.

It did work for a second. Then he blew up the Eagles. Meanwhile...if you look around, it's not really working in college anymore either. Who goes spread read option all the time anymore? OSU uses it but it's not their main offense and their offense isn't even good so that kind of proves the point even if you did say them. Clemson and Bama sprinkle it in. But no one is out there running the high tempo fast paced Oregon with a bunch of success anymore. Even Auburn has struggled and TAMU has implemented more power runs and more air raid passing.

OSU does as their main offense, and they do it really well and effectively.   However they have a young, pretty bad OL and their QB can't pass the ball and we have a historically good defense so...we barely lose to them.  Urban's offense is probably the best and hardest to defend of all college coaches'.  2 great athletes on each edge, 2 in the backfield.  You going to put 7 in the box? ok i'll take my choice of the 4 1on1s of the receivers.  Going to put 6 or less in the box? ok i have a blocker for 5-6 of you and will read option another.  Better win every 1 on 1 and not miss any tackles.

I legit feel terrible for Niners fans.  It is the absolute worst feeling to have a horseshit owner.  To have a horseshit owner that is a smug douchecanoe?  I can't even imagine.

I don't feel bad for them because they still buy tickets to see the product Jed York and Trent Baalke provide for them.  If they're that bad, stop buying tickets...

I realize that WC Ford wasn't a great owner.  But it wasn't because he didn't care - it was because he was too good a person to fire someone.  He kept people that had proved themselves incompetent in positions of power, to the detriment of the Lions (and Ford Motor, also).  They are both - Ford and York - bad NFL owners, but for completely different reasons.

Guh...this sucks. I have been a Niners fan since I could walk. Not sure why the UM community takes delight in them being so bad. Because they suck - or, the management - we got Harbaugh. If anything, the UM fanbase should send the Niners a care package saying thank you!

The vast majority of the fans loved Harbaugh, much like they do at UM. The vast majority of the fans hate York.

I think a lot of M fans liked or were indifferent about the Niners. But their arrogant idiot owner helped pushed Harbaugh to A2 and he was even more arrogant afterwards. So now it's like people want him to fail and his team is collateral damage. Take LeBron...he gained a lot more fans after Gilbert wrote that email (then lost half of them with not 1...not 2...) People don't like when these guys pop off and make guarantees and ignore the truth. The truth is Harbaugh made the 49ers great...just say we had our differences, we wish him well, and move on. Gilbert just needed to say "fans we'll be back, we'll build and be relentless in our pursuit of a championship." Belittle the truth on its way out the door and you're inviting people to point fingers and laugh when you're wrong.

This is so true. I would totally click the following hypothetical thread titles:

OT: cat pics
OT: I'm bored
OT: why is the sky blue
OT: video of my new snow blower in action

It's just who we are! We can't miss any pertinent MGoInfo
