OT: 30th WWE Royal Rumble open thread

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I predict I will be disappointed with this PPV.

That is a house money pick when it comes to WWE RR in recent years.

Lest we forget when the people in Philadelphia blocked the wrestlers from leaving the arena with their cars two years ago when Roman won.

The Royal Rumble returns to the Alamodome where it was 20 years ago when Steve Austin "won" his first of 3.

Back then WWF was getting its ass kicked by WCW in the ratings and not many knew how many more Royal Rumbles there would be left.

Kurt Angle did it to Shawn Michaels in 2005 which started that feud that led to that 21 classic. And then Steve Austin did it to win the 97 RR.

I always thought it was funny how they have the titantrons that show replays in the arena and it's as if the ref is just acting like it doesn't exist.

There are some rumblings that this game may come to the Virtual Console on the WiiU, if you happen to have that system. Older Nintendo games are about 95% of my time on that particular system, so if it does come out, I might have to add it to the rotation too.

I don't have the Wii U, but definitely want the Switch; however, I'm going to wait a couple of years to get it. I want it for Zelda, Mario/Mario Kart, Metroid, and hopefully full backward compatibility if it ever does that.

I also skipped the Wii U, but I'm going to pick up the switch as soon as I can (missed out on the pre-orders.  Damn work!).  The new Mario Kart is tops on my list.  If they add the virtual console stuff and backwards compatibility, I'll be in heaven.

They need to bring back chair shots to the head every now and then for shock value.

I remember when Punk did the piledriver on Cena which is a banned move and everyone went nuts.

It's an overall health issue. Benoit had severe head injuries but in WCW he was not subject to the hardcore era WWE gravitated towards; steroids contributed to his horrific act as well. You are correct in that the case of Benoit accelerated the chair to head issue.
