OT: 2018 LB Kolin Demens decommits from UCLA
Detroit (MI) Country Day linebacker Kolin Demens, the brother of Kenny, decommitted from UCLA today. I can't imagine there's any pre-existing bad blood with Chip Kelly since Kelly hasn't been coaching in college for several years, but Demens just committed to the Bruins in late October and is already backing out.
I don't think Michigan will get involved again, even though they offered early. It didn't seem like Michigan was trying hard to land him.
EDIT: Demens is a 3-star, the #25 inside linebacker, and #603 overall in the 247 Composite.

Wonder if it has less to do with Chip Kelly and moreso if he got a new offer, or a newly-"committable" offer somewhere he preferred I agree it didnt seem like UM was trying hard to land him before, maybe that's changed?

was Ross the only LB to burn his redshirt last year? I don't recall Jordan Anthony or Drew Singleton getting much playing time. We seem to have solid depth and would be better off using the scholarship elsewhere. Like L or R tackle.

MSU might have made some overtures but simply by counting in my head lber, all areas, UM seems to be covered pretty well depth wise. As an aside, beginning with Peppers, maintaining same this year and with the future looking good, I think lber at UM under Don Brown could become one of the premier positions in cfb.

It's amusing that they keep ranking individual players beyond the top 300 or so. He's the #603 player in the country? Eh, I was thinking #597 myself...

that out of region commits are the most likely to bolt.

Some new coaches try to keep everyone on board. Who know what Chip Kelly is up to?

According to UCLA boards Chip maintained all the offers for the class, but did have some conversations about whether certain players in the class would be a fit.
The main thing driving the UCLA decommits is Mora was not heavily involved in recruiting, preferring to act as a closer, as a result the primary relationships developed with the assistant coaches. Demens' position coach, Scott White, was not retained and thus I think he decided to open up his options.

He (Fleck) just pulled them? That seems like a total dick move. Sure, he can do it, but doing something because you can isn't the same as doing something because it's right. Feel free to tell every player that you're going to re-evaluate what you think the program needs, but to drop everything outright sems like BS to me...

It was a total dick move. I don't understand why M fans were so fond of him when he was at Western. He seems like a douche.
Row the boat? Fuck you.

Americans love a winner.
PJ Fleck took WMU from 1-11 to 13-1 in four years.
I'm not saying I'd want him at UM, but he has a short track record of success. Now we'll see if he can make Minnesota competitive in the West.

Will probably beat the bad teams and lose to Wisconsin every year.

Not exactly beating to many bad teams just Illinois and Nebraska.

but Herm Edwards don't like devils or Demens.

No idea how many times I watched that Edwards video. Just bizarre. Makes me laugh, and not in a way that is complimentary to him.

It was hilarious and cringeworthy all at once.
