when was the last time anyone can remember Michigan having a great season of special teams play?  I remember Breaston being outstanding on the return game but besides that I can not think of a season when the special teams really stood out.

And I am elated to have Baxter in charge of the ST.  GO BLUE!

This is a 50% yes, 50% no answer, but under RichRod Michigan did have at least one punt return for TD (Odoms vs Purdue) and one KO return for TD (Stonum vs ND). I also remember the return yards being above average. They also had a few blocked punts (Graham had at least two in the same season). Then again, there were also countless muffed punts and missed field goals. So yeah.

I miss the year where we had Seth Brookheisen (spelling, I know) and Gibbons and literally no one on that team could make a field goal for the life of them. It caused excessive celebration the next couple years from fans in the stands on FG makes after being scarred from that year. Good times.

Seth didn't have a great year, but despite being a walk-on he performed significantly better than scholarship kicker Gibbons.  The placekicking wasn't really the problem that year, so I don't remember being upset about anything that happened with kicking, but I decided to take a more Hoke-ian approach to criticism of individual players.

ESPN announcers discuss how Coach John Baxter and Academic Gameplan were used to take Fresno State Football from one of the worst to one of the best in regards to academic performance.

Long time lurker.  I've been an MGoBlog obsessee since the 2011 coaching search, but it is about time that I join the community officially.

I absolutely love this hire.  For the recruits and families who ACTUALLY value academics, who's got it better than John Baxter?
