I think these camps, especially the multi-school camps are great for kids. Even if they dont get recruited by one of the visiting schools, they get coaching and obviously a very cool experience.

I am from Virginia Beach and obtained my undergrad degree at ODU. I was in a group trying to persuade the AD in 1987 to start a football program. I was delighted to see the start of a program in 2009 in the FCS. They moved to the FBS in 2013-2014 and have had tremendous fan support. They will be building a new 30K stadium starting next year, not exactly the Big House but a step up from 10K. I have had season tickets since 2009, but have been to only one game since I live in MI. It is very exciting to see Michigan participating in the camp. I hope some Harbaugh rubs off on ODU.

Also blew *everyone* out of the water for a multitude of years and the momentum that he built at Ferry Field was the catalyst.

Good that ODU is an ascending program.  The more competitors the better is the way I see it.  Big 2 and Little 8 was fun for awhile but it makes every Saturday more interesting.  People stay to the 0:00 instead of bailing at the end of the 3rd Q to beat traffic.

This is a pretty decent location.

The tidewater area is rich with talent... From VA Beach, Hampton, Norfok and Portsmith are right there... That's where Percy Harvin, Marcus and Mike Vick, Ej Manuel and many others have come from. It's only an hour or so from Richmond and 3 hours from DC. Tons of ACC talent in that area.

Really like this location. Most families are not from VA near ODU. It's not far from a navel base so there are a lot of people that have moved around. I'd say that Va Tech is the most popular school.

I went to college at Hampton University which is 15 minutes from campus. I covered high school football when Tyrod Tyler, Manuel and Taj (SP) Boyd were all in school. Even saw Marcus Vick play his high school ball. Very good talent area.

basically, w/exception of bb of course. But Saban and the SEC schools having problems with this is just ridiculous. He has a nation wide network that pretty well guarantees that, coupled with his on-field success, he's going to pull in a top 1-4 class every year, much like Carroll did before him. I am not sure, but I don't think we pulled in any kids rated higher than 3* last season, so it really should be a moot point as far as he is concerned. Of course, he might be pissed in hopes of pulling some of these as preferred walk-ons, grey shirts and the like.

But of far more importance, this gives exposure to a large number of h.s. players that might not even get an FCS offer if not for these camps. It's a win-win in the respect those deemed ready for BIG football are exposed to some of the top coaches in the game and the coaches can decide if they are. But, and most important, is the first. It allows a hell of a lot more kids to go to school.
