They are trying to get Ohio State there, too.

ODU is a fast-rising program. Seem to be well-run and it doesn't hurt to be in a rich recruiting area.

Somehow they built themselves into a force that regularly beats Sparty. If only life could imitate pixel art.

Eh, let them get strong, but not better than us. Let the all other non-Ohio State teams have the scraps.

I think these camps, especially the multi-school camps are great for kids. Even if they dont get recruited by one of the visiting schools, they get coaching and obviously a very cool experience.

The best side effect is the Nick Saban blown gasket.

While 30,000 does seem small by Big House standards, I'm hoping your AD and ODU had the foresight to plan the new stadium in such a way that it can have further expansions when needed.
It worked for Fielding Yost and Michigan, didn't it?

Also blew *everyone* out of the water for a multitude of years and the momentum that he built at Ferry Field was the catalyst.
Good that ODU is an ascending program. The more competitors the better is the way I see it. Big 2 and Little 8 was fun for awhile but it makes every Saturday more interesting. People stay to the 0:00 instead of bailing at the end of the 3rd Q to beat traffic.

This is a pretty decent location.
The tidewater area is rich with talent... From VA Beach, Hampton, Norfok and Portsmith are right there... That's where Percy Harvin, Marcus and Mike Vick, Ej Manuel and many others have come from. It's only an hour or so from Richmond and 3 hours from DC. Tons of ACC talent in that area.
Really like this location. Most families are not from VA near ODU. It's not far from a navel base so there are a lot of people that have moved around. I'd say that Va Tech is the most popular school.
I went to college at Hampton University which is 15 minutes from campus. I covered high school football when Tyrod Tyler, Manuel and Taj (SP) Boyd were all in school. Even saw Marcus Vick play his high school ball. Very good talent area.

to retire in order to start raiding the Va Tech recruiting pipeline.

basically, w/exception of bb of course. But Saban and the SEC schools having problems with this is just ridiculous. He has a nation wide network that pretty well guarantees that, coupled with his on-field success, he's going to pull in a top 1-4 class every year, much like Carroll did before him. I am not sure, but I don't think we pulled in any kids rated higher than 3* last season, so it really should be a moot point as far as he is concerned. Of course, he might be pissed in hopes of pulling some of these as preferred walk-ons, grey shirts and the like.
But of far more importance, this gives exposure to a large number of h.s. players that might not even get an FCS offer if not for these camps. It's a win-win in the respect those deemed ready for BIG football are exposed to some of the top coaches in the game and the coaches can decide if they are. But, and most important, is the first. It allows a hell of a lot more kids to go to school.
