Olathe (KS) 4* safety Isaiah Simmons to officially visit Michigan

Submitted by Indonacious on

Mentioned by Steve Lorenz on Twitter (Free). He was recently visited in-home by Harbaugh, which must have gone well!

Yes I just was posting that on the Hudson thread - I hope these 2 are not related but the timing of the 2 announcements is a bit too close together for my liking.  Both are sort of "oversized S who can be small LB who can be poor man Peppers" types so they sort of fill the same role.

Hmmm...

Hold me Brown Bear.

I think you are right. Everyone thought Jeremy Clark was going to be a hybrid LB type, but somehow he has not put on any weight. His listed roster weight is the same as his recruiting profiles. Since adding zero weight is rare, I think Simmons fills out to a LB.

And I know it's not something most college kids have. Do they get a training table or cafetaria pass when school is in? Also do they get free supplements like protein powder? To me, they say you want to play you put on the weight, I'd come back with the weight on.

Even with 3 more decommits we are at 27 with all the guys most assume are going blue.  That doesnt even include Hill or Nordin.  Just trying to figure out how we fit all these guys to a 30 limit.

This was as of yest aft before the 3 new guys added. Still would like to find room for Murphy and Hill at minimum.

One possibility is that the staff is recruiting Simmons as a backup plan in case Hudson goes elsewhere.  I agree it's likely that Hudson has already decided, but maybe he hasn't--or maybe he hasn't told the coaches yet, and he could always change his mind.

I think we currently have 20 commits that will count as scholarship players next season. That leaves room for quite a bit more. Also Harbaugh seems like a guy that is always going to cover his ass first and then let the chips fall as they may. I honestly don't think Wilson visiting has anything to do with uncertainty regarding our current DB targets.

I watched his hudl footage and it's impressive.  He has very good size for a defensive back and excellent athleticism.  He would be another big time pickup for Michigan.

Can Harbaugh create another blizzard to hit America to extend Isaiah's time at Michigan this weekend? You know, before the SEC sends in a petition to the NCAA to stop blizzards from happening nationwide.

I have to be honest, I think Hudson goes to Penn State from what info I've acquired. Hope I'm wrong of course. Regardless, landing Olathe would be awesome.

Just reading the tea leaves. Announces his decision time coming off a PSU visit, confidence on the PSU side, coupled with Simmons now visiting and well I'm a little skeptical. I wasn't aware of the fact that recruiting experts expect him to commit to Michigan though. Hasn't he been a PSU lean for a while now too?

The combo of Simmons with Hudson as safeties, with Jabrill at nickel/CB will be a mack truck impact on a receiver when they come across the middle.  Good God, this will almost be unfair.
