OK, Lets start the bickering...I want no part of Texas in the Big Ten

Yes, this may be unpopular or wimping out but I don't want any part of Texas in the Big Ten. The reality to me is that they have such a competitive advantage over pretty much every other school in the Big Ten because of the quality and quantity of football talent in that state, I think that we may very well find ourselves relegated to a a status similar to what Iowa typically is where we're middle of the pack most years, have some horrendous years and challenge once every 10 to 15 years. I'd much sooner see us lock up some combination of Nebraska/Missouri and some of the Big East NY Market Schools (UConn/Rutgers/Syracuse) and then force Notre Dame into our hands by thereby destroying the Big East.

Let them, Tech, A&M, Okl, Okl State and whomever else go to the Pac Ten.

The Big Ten needs to push heavily to get Texas. It fits perfectly with the Big Ten. The geography thing is a poor argument since the whole air travel thing took off (pun intended)

I can't believe no one has brought up this point yet. How will Texas do when they come up north in October and it's a cold Autumn day? They're used to playing in prestine conditions.

I don't like it either but because of geography. This reason is because of competition. It's the University of Michigan, their is no being afraid of other teams.

Bring in Texas, A&M or Tech, and you've got to deal with the Texas State Legislature. You think dealing with Jim Delaney and the NCAA folks is bad? Try the esteemed representatives (and their governor - an A&M grad) in Austin. They get involved in everything regarding those universities, to include negotiating (or at least very heavily influencing) the TV rights, etc. And they are more than willing to fight for "more than their fair share." Think of ND with lots of political muscle behind them.

While it would be totally badass to have UT as an annual competitor, (or at least play against them for a conference championship, depending upon how the divisions worked themselves out) I don't think dealing with the Texas State Legislature is worth it.

I'm pretty sure Nebraska was one second away from beating Texas in the Big12 champ. game last season with an offense that was one of the most terrible I've ever seen for a team that won 10 games.  I'm still not completely sold on Texas coming to the Big10, but I don't think we would be relegated to the level of middle of the pack just because Texas has somewhat of a recruiting advantage.
