Here's the repository for your quick thoughts and hot takes on our defensive performance in our game versus Ohio State.

Waiting for people to keep cheering on Harbaugh's 2/3 star recruits that constantly cough up in crucial moments like Josh Metellus.

Defense needs a ball hawk safety. Kinnel and Metellus are neither.

17 of 31 points came with a back-up RS freshman as quarterback. Collapsed on almost every possession when Michigan started to get momentum. Awful.

How in the hell does this defense sack Barrett 3(?) times and yet can’t even get a freaking knockdown against a backup freshmen....that is what does not make sense to me. I won’t say our defense is bad because they aren’t, but how in the hell that happens is ridiculous. Say whatever about QB, we knew what OKorn was coming in, but that was a huge missed opportunity

went down with a knee injury.

It soon became clear that the original gameplan, while excellent for bottling up the run-read options with J.T. Barrett, was ill-suited to the passing preferences of Haskins.

The original gameplan has probably been in the works since the offseason in preparation for this game.  Don Brown has been honing the D for OSU's tough running attack and questionable passing attack.

The Universe has found the most improbable ways of torturing Michigan fans in 13 of 14 years, from late season injuries to Michigan's QBs to ridiculous calls by partisan refs.

Today the Universe allowed OSU's starting QB to go down--so that a pass-happy backup for whom Michigan was unprepared could take over and put up 17 points in 1.5 quarters to win the game.

I don't know how many more tortures by the Cosmic Vivisector I can handle.

Our vaunted defense let a redshirt freshman QB carve it up again and again on 3rd downs.

Brian Smith should be on notice for his shit coaching of the safeties.

0 ball hawks. Metellus had one in his fucking hands.

How many times can he fail in big games until we realize he is not that good of s DC? The inability to stop Haskins in the second half is astounding. His defense failed in the Orange Bowl, failed vs PSU, and failed in the second half when the team needed stops. At some point we have to see that Don Brown is not the mad genius we fhought he was.

For 2.5 quarters against UW. And for 1 quarter vs OSU. And let a RS FR backup lead OSU to 17 pts in less than 1 half. Methinks his stats may be padded from playing lesser competition. PSU, UW, OSU found a way to get it done. We can blame MSU on the monsoon if it makes everyone feel better.

The defense's second half was quite bad. Although most blame should be on JOK's shoulders, it is frusturating to see the strength of the team pucker in the second half, specifically in the back 4.

Defense proved they were just good not great this year. Offense was bad but they didn’t have an excuse of being tired or put on short fields, they just couldn’t make the plays they needed to on 3rd down for the second game in a row.

let go. Go zone once in a while. Mettalus has been getting burned all year and they leave him 1 on 1 still. Brandon Watson has good technique but bad athletiscm, he is gone this nyear so we should be better.

Metullus looked every bit the two star sleeper today. He played terribly. Overall I’m not pissed at the defensive plan. After the half their qb had one awesome throw and then they gave up a field goal drive. I don’t count the last drive because after JOK threw the all time dumbest fucking pick in Michigan history, I gave up too.

And obviously the D isn’t the weak link, that said, 2 top 10 opponents in a row, 2 weeks where the offense takes a 2nd half lead and the defense implodes. Needs to get better next year.

Mettlus HAS to get waaay better or find the bench next year. He is such a liability at the SS position. QB is the weakness on offense, strong safety is the weakness on defense

This is not an elite defense Is it coaching adjustments or conditioning that allows them to fall apart late in games? In don’t know. Unlike Michigan, youth is not an excuse at Ohio State. Their freshman QB made out secondary look silly. Really disappointing considering how well the offense played(relatively speaking)

Can someone recap how many holding penalties were called on OSU's line?  Because I saw about 30.

For the neggars...how many o-line holding penalties were against OSU...over the last 2 years?

They were fine.  24 real points against that fucking juggernaut.  Took the RBs out of the game until they watched that awful JOK INT.  Do need a solution to those crossing routes.  The 3rd and 13 was almost perfect, just a ridiculous damn throw and catch.

Missed opportunity on the ball Metellus had in his hands is going to haunt us.

I dunno what you want to say about the first drive against the backup.  Got them to 3rd and 13, forced a literally inch perfect throw with Watson raking at the guy's hand and Kinnel delivering a massive hit on the catch.  Hurst got held on the long run to set up 1st and goal (Winovich was also held on Barrett's TD, though that one was way more blatant).  Last drive they quit after that atrocious O'Korn INT.  So it's really the two drives in the middle, which amounted to OSU finally starting to get push because we don't have a ton of depth on the DL so they were in third and short situations that Dobbins and Weber could grind out and an inability to cover KJ Hill on crossing routes one on one.  Really just the last thing is a continuing problem.  One was Lavert Hill, the other was Metellus.  They need to do better.

..particularly in pass defense. Don Brown scheme doesn't hold up well against teams who are semi-competent on offense. Inflated stats against Florida; Rutgers, Minnesota and MSU(who stopped trying on O in pouring rain knowing M couldn't score)

Can you expect a defense to continually shutting it down when nobody in the goddamn stadium has any confidence in their qb? Especially after he tosses up an egg to literally nobody on the first play of what should have been an inspired, game winning drive. That first Haskins third down throw was perfect coverage but an absolute dime. Sure there were a few third downs we should have stopped but by and large we played solid against a great offense, but JOK sucked the life out of them and everyone else on the team.

the vast majority of OSU's offense into the 4th quarter was QB scrambles and QB runs. We never seemed to adjust and OSU made us pay for our unwillingness to change

Also, that Metellus drop can now start haunting you forever
