In my ranking of things that I could give a shit if OSU beats us at, this ranks right between a chutes and ladder tournament and a 90's boy band karaoke contest.

Because, like the NFL doesn't need crap like that, do they?  They'd just hire Kanye or Taylor Swift to do a halftime show, right?

What we need are college playoffs, a collegiate super bowl, and maybe some preseason games.

What's the spread on next week's game?

There is a portion of the self-professed Michigan fan base that is really frightening.

As Section 1 is implying, our band is a crucial part of game day, and our rivalries extend beyond a football or basketball game alone. The great rivalries are university-wide. This is part of what makes college athletics far more compelling (at least to many of us) than the pros.

Ohio is only the self-proclaimed BDBITL. For some reason they like to think that it is universally known that they are considered the best.

That was a helluva halftime show.  However, a "school" can do this when they don't have an academic program and their marching band members can be made to drill all week North Korea style.  Seriously, there's no other way to explain the practice time..

First, the OSU Marching Band is very good and very loud; it is all brass and drums, with no woodwinds (see, MMB, a very fine "concert" band).

Second, they are marching.  No video-board skits.

Third, keep it simple.  It is an eight-minute show.  Some popular music, some simple image concepts, done very elegantly, with impressive motion.  That's the wonder of marching bands.

It was a nice halftime show, for sure.  Lessons to be learned for Michigan.

Don't you love it, that in the middle of their big night game with Penn State, the band is highlighting their rivalry with Michigan?  I am trying to imagine what the Penn Staters felt like.  Chopped liver, probably.

The PSU fans might have felt slighted by the Ohio halftime show, but I have to believe they were more dismayed by the 42-7 score. Let's not act like the MMB hasn't put together halftime shows that call attention to our disdain of our rivals when we're not playing them that particular game. In fact, I would think it would be considered bad form to have a stadium that is 20% of say Sparty fans and then have the band come out at halftime and do some kind of faux homage to "Little Brother" or whatever.

Not sure why people are hating on this video. College Marching Bands are one of the great traditions of college football. This is a great performance and a pretty entertaining looking halftime show

This was a great college halftime show.  It is the essence of college football.  I don't care that it was OSU that did it.

When colleges stop doing these kind of things that are the DNA of college football and move toward whatever fad the Pros are chasing, we will all be worse off.

I wish that the broadcasters would go back to showing the halftime shows because honestly I could care less whether the SEC is the best conference in the nation or the world.  I guess that's one of the nice things about actually going to the game.  I don't have to listen to Lou Holtz prattle on about whatever his pet peeve of the day is.  Fortunately, I think Terry Bowden has been relegated to some TV backwater.

Yeah, phazing in the lines and intonation that is out of wack really makes a quality band. I have figuratively seen better high school bands, especially at BOA's.

Oh look, another highly informed band critic. OSU's drill writer is doing some great work. But you're really gonna say their band is better when our band's repertoire this year included maybe the single most innovative performance by a marching band in recent history? Guess you missed the Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka shows. Neither were against OSU. Both featured the rivalry prominently. Tell me, what did you think of Ohio's halftime show last year when we went to the Toilet Bowl? Oh, that's right. You probably didn't see it because it didn't go viral, and of course that was far more boring than most shows the MMB has done in the past 5 years. (Except perhaps for the fireworks at the end.) But never mind the fact that the MMB and the OSUMB have gone viral roughly the same number of times the past 5 years. The narrative of the OP is clearly supported by this single video. Jesus. Apparently, Michigan football meltdowns come with Sparty-style self-loathing, too.

I saw that and after watching this show I have to assume that OSU must have a software program that is helping create these shows. It is pretty impressive to watch the band play and move in really complicated patterns such as this and I'd really like to know more about how they go about it. Obviously I'm partial to the MMB, but you've gotta give those kids credit.
