The Official Letting The Good Times Roll Party Thread

Submitted by jamiemac on

It dont matter if its getting late, we're letting the good times roll tonight. Even in great years the numbers of nights we have during the year to celebrate a MICH football win arent that many. Pour a drink, pour a shot, roll a joint, whatever floats your boat. We're partying and talking all things  MICH in this thread.

How about what its like to be a member of the defense tonight around campus. Michigan won today because its DEFENSE DIDNT ALLOW AN OFFENSIVE TD. I've had countless talks with folks trying to figure out how many games MICH would lose, yet still score 30. Never crossed the mind, we might win a game and not give up a TD.

ITS THEIR NIGHT AND WE ONLY WISH WE WERE AT THE PARTY WHERE KOVACS IS HOLDING COURT TONIGHT

Any MICH topic goes, but we can start with basic favorite moments of the game today.

This game was the really ugly step-sister of bad games. If I weren't invested in Michigan, I would have been laughing at how bad both teams were playing. As it were, I was just kinda sad, until Hopkins finally scored the dagger touchdown and the clocks read all zeros.

Gordon taking the fumble in for 6?  That was awesome!  Also, how about James Rogers with a couple of picks today?  It was so great to watch effective defensive football today!  Going to celebrate now, cheers to all of you fellow fans.

Great clip...great post

I've been acquiring a number of older Dead remixes lately but haven't seen this lineup for a while.  Brent Mydland passed away a few months after this.  Truly good memories.

Thanks for that.  Enjoy the night.  Our game is back on and it feels awesome man.

I like that the Cult of Vincent Smith is growing

He's the type of player if you give him his 12-15 touches a game, good things will happen somewhere.

There is something old school MICH about his game that I like.

Yeah, James Rogers. Whats his night on campus like tonight

He probably hasnt had the MICH career he envisioned. But tonight he gets to be BMOC and his side of the ball wins the game. You have to feel happy for a guy like that tonight

This one goes in the record books as the first winning season under Rich Rodriguez, that has got to be a bit of a watershed moment for everyone hoping we would start to turn things around this season.  Finally Michigan is winning the games it should win.  The jury is now out on whether PSU was or wasn't one of those games after all.

In other news we all care about but are too classy to usually mention, with this win, it becomes clear we're going to pad our all time wins lead over Texas and Notre Dame this season. Texas is in the middle of their sixth loss (with A&M still upcoming) and Notre Dame will almost certainly lose to USC, if not Army, to cap their season at 6 wins as well.

with the DNQ's, departures, injuries and young team I doubted that we would get to 7-5. Now a winning season, a bowl game, a developing recruiting class, did I mention a frickin bowl game.... Let the good times roll indeed.  Go Blue

Obi Ezeh was a beast today, we all know the kid is good and was not playing too hot as of late, hopefully this game gives him some confidence so he can stonewall james white, monte ball, john clay or whoever wisconsin tries to run at us.

How about taylor lewan rushing for 11 yards

I heart the tackling and the overall gradual appearance of some instinctual defensive play...almost as I love Vinopal and his stubby little legs. Those little guys always seem to have him in the right place in the right time...

I like the positivity...this thread forced me to open beer number eleventee.  Let's just enjoy em' when they come.  If they don't, drink eleventee two to make it less painful.  Here's to shocking Wisco next week and their inner-ear infections.

I am a happy panda tonight, perhaps happier than I have been in awhile.

These last 2 wins are much more satisfying than the first 5 wins this season just solely based on the fact that they are Big Ten wins. Proving that 2010 =/= 2009 has been one of the most satisfying memes of this season.

Yeah we played terrible, turnovers abound, but seeing that we can win games even when we play terrible means that we are getting better and closing in back to what's normal for Michigan football.

We've got two more tough games ahead, but I ain't scared. We're gonna practice harder and faster in these next two weeks than we have the entire season. Having a chip on our shoulder is going to do wonders for us I just know it.

Yeah... let the good times roll...

RR smiling and being the epitome of class during the handshake.

Denard and Tate sharing the duties with presumably no animosity.

A "space emperor" type punt

a defense that looked like it played a little faster, broke on the ball a little quicker, and swarmed to the ball carrier a little more

A conference road win

7 - 3

and finally, a chance to share the Big 10 championiship.  Hey, it could happen.

  1. we win out
  2. Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State lose out
  3. Iowa loses to Minnesota in their last game

 A guy's gotta dream, right?

I would say there was no animosity too.

After Denard got pulled the first time he wasn't sitting on the bench feeling sorry for himself, on the contrary... he was up with the team jumping around on the sidelines keeping moral high.

That kid is the epitome of a leader (he's also the best!).  Also not to mention that Tate was also extremely active on the sidelines calling plays and such.

My carousing and boozing skills have long ago evaporated. But today, thrust into a tough game watching situation, my grit came out. Wife out of town, noon start, kids needing to be fed, bathed, and clothed somewhat adequately,  no chance of any human interaction with anyone over the age of 5. I would certainly have been been forgiven if I meekly settled on a couple of juiceboxes... Damnit if the old warhorse didn't mount up and almost polish off the whole sixer of Coronas. Probably would have, too, if not for having the tolerance of a 16 year old girl these days and those pesky child endangerment laws.

Towards the end of the game I was actually glad to see our defense on the field. I think for a while I was even more confident in our defenses ability to score than our offenses. That hasn't happened for a while. Good game!
