Yes, you young guys always lament that you did not get to experience the Michigan of the '80s and '90s, and for good reason.

But there is one area you have a (chicken) leg up on us . . . success against Notre Dame.

We experienced a series of maddening losses, particularlly at ND, via freakish events.  We were snake-bit.

Not so for you guys.  You beat them every way possible . . .  blowouts, close games, games at A2, games at ND, games at night.  All of it.  You even knocked their lucky charms rainbow out of the sky.

I sure as shit am. I don't worry about the perception of the Big Ten. How Michigan performs is the only thing I care about. I want to see MSU knocked down a peg as their fanbase has become arrogant and insufferable.

I won't be, but I don't judge anyone who does.

I think fixing the horrible perception of the B1G is more important than any small satisfaction I get from watching state lose a game they are supposed to lose.

Dont get me wrong, if they lose ill have a good laugh and enjoy the rest of my weekend, but I wont root against them. OSU is the only team i want to lose every game forever.

I would like to see us come out strong on Saturday in SB. I think DG making reads at the line is an improvement and the play calling is also improved. I saw many options 2 RB's and many WR's for DG and the 13/14 is promising even though the coverage was questionable on our receivers, I'd expect better coverage from ranked opp. D-line will be interesting to see vs a larger more talented O-line. Although the secondary looked pretty good to me in the press coverage and attacking the screens (countess & peppers).

All of ND's TDs came from what to me seemed like blown coverages/separation and Denard-esqe QB keeps. I would hope that our coverage and pass rush is much better than Rice to contain Golson and keep WR's in check. I'd also expect us to be better at containing Golson on his scrambles/runs.

The caveat to these is they were against cupcakes and nothing is relevant! Will be a good week of speculation.

Cant wait for Saturday!

Their replacements were bad enough that even rusty starters are better, it seems.

I view that as a god sign.  That means that their defense will either wear down or become spotty with substitutions.  Either outcome is good for the Good Guys.

First time poster here. I'll get it out of the way now...I'm an ND fan living in Michigan with tons of friends who are Michigan fans so I know a fair amount about your team. Not great knowledge but good enough to keep some decent discussion I hope.

I'm thinking this will be another close game in the series (go figure) and will be pretty high scoring. Our offense is a whole different animal with a QB like Golson at the helm. It's a typical Brian Kelly offense that he just couldn't run with Rees. Our defense will be going through some growing pains since we are doing a 180 in terms of scheme going from a bend but dont break, conservative 3-4 base to an attacking, aggressive, blitzing 4-3 base. We will get burned with the big plays early in the season until all the guys can adjust to the new system. And you guys have the talent and playmakers to burn us for our mistakes in adjusting to the new scheme.

I think Nuss is just what you guys needed on offense to get things turned around there. And Funchess is a beast who we will have to find some sort of answer for. If we had a full strength Russell (one of the suspended players) I'd say he could at least limit Funchess somewhat but since he hasnt been practicing for over 2 weeks I'm not sure of the difference he'll make.

I'm looking forward to a good game this Saturday though. Should be fun to watch.

I hate Notre Lame mostly because of that slobbering bastard Lou Holtz, oh yeah and how corrupt ND is just by being ND.

This one is going to be wild and crazy like always, but I think we'll have a good idea of where we stand as a team after this weekend. Funchess is really going to test their secondary, especially if their suspended CB doesn't come back. Golson will provide a big challenge to our secondary as well, but I think our secondary is in a much better position going into this game than ND's. Just need to get that run game going. If we can do that, especially since they're transitioning to a new defense, I think we can be in good shape.

I would love nothing more than to walk out of South Bend with a win and leave this rivalry on a high note. We've taken 6 of the last 8 from these guys. But I gotta tell you, 7 of 9 sounds a whole heck of a lot better.

A lot of people keep saying we'll know where we stand after the ND game.  If anything the ND game has given us all false hope several times over the past several years.  I think we'll know more about this team after the Utah game than the ND one IMO.
