NMSU Rips Off UTEP at Concessions

There was a lightning delay a few minutes after kick off at New Mexico State on Saturday that lead to a 3 hour delay. In the mean time, UTEP's players got hungry. Without any food in the locker room, they had to order food from the concession stand:

We went to the concession stand to buy turkey legs and sloppy joes for the whole team," Price said. "Eighty turkey legs, 60 sloppy joes, they are 4 or 5 dollars apiece and the Aggies gave us zero discount. Cash only. It was a scene I'd never saw before.

"Then 10 minutes, boom, we're ready to go. We looked like barbarians, waving turkey bones in our hands. We missed a couple of tackles because of the grease on our hands.

"But the players did a great job handling the delay.

That's absolutely ridiculous. I want to know what coach had enough cash on him to pay for that. I'd hope Michigan would be better than that (unless it was maybe ND or OSU).

I wouldn't count on it. Our visitors locker room doesn't have hot water, let alone would we serve them food. Everything is in place to make the Big House an intimidating place to play.

While it would be the "nice" thing to do, and I'm sure we wouldn't mind feeding them if the circumstances existed without competition, there is no way we serve food to another team during a game.

A Tradition is Born???

This is the type of story that is frequently behind "trophy" games in the Big 10. e.g. The Little Brown Jug.

Those teams will play in the future in a game known as the battle for the "Greasy Turkey Leg" - and/or Sloppy Joe.

I would have sent the visiting team a massive pile of the greasiest, fattest, tastiest stuff that could be found, on the house. You ever try to do anything physical after a meal like that?
