NFL scouts are uncontrollably salivating over Jabrill Peppers

Submitted by Maizen on

"He's unbelievable,'' a top college scout for a NFC team said. "He can do everything. He can be whatever you want him to be. He might be the next Charles Woodson.''

Woodson won the Heisman Trophy and led Michigan to the national title in 1997 and went on to a nine-time Pro Bowl career with the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers.

"He can be that good,'' the scout continued. "I'd start him out at cornerback. If you want to move him to safety, you could do that. He can play offense, too. He might actually be able to play both ways for you.''

An executive in personnel for another NFC team was just as impressed with Peppers.

"He's a top five pick in my mind,'' he said. "He's unbelievable. He's the most versatile player I've ever scouted. He does it all for (Michigan). I think at our level, he's a safety, he reminds me of (former Steelers great) Troy Polamalu. I don't think I'd use him on offense. He could be a good return man for you, though. "What he is, is just a phenomenal athlete. But he's more than that, because he's tough and he's smart, too.''

A third scout also thinks Peppers would be best at safety in the NFL, but one that a defense could utilize in a variety of ways.

"He's better than Jalen Ramsey (the No. 5 overall pick of the 2016 draft by the Jaguars), so there's that,'' the scout said. "He's a safety, but you can match him up if you want. He can take on the better tight ends, (the Redskins') Jordan Reed man to man. You can put him in the slot. You can blitz him, play him deep. He's going to be a difference maker for a defense.''

I don't see it. He needs to come back and work on his strength, and speed. Maybe try to add some muscle to his frame and work on diagnosing plays. Definitely needs another year, if not two, to be ready for the league.

Obvious /s

This isn't even a Jourdan Lewis situation where there's a chance he sticks around for another year. He just so obviously is ready to be in the NFL and will be a lock top 10 pick (probably top 5). Happy for him and hope he goes out with some hardware

Gonna miss Peppers next year, but the kid earned that top 5 pick.  Good luck to the young man.

We will all miss him.  He has to do what is best for Jabrill and his family.  IMO, that will be heading to the NFL.  Why subject yourself to another year of abuse when he is so ready for the next level.

Then, when his NFL days are done, come back to Michigan and get your piece of paper.

a top 5 pick obviously... Browns, Jax, Jets, bears, niners... possibly either TB or probably not Car but maybe. of the likely teams I listed (all but Carolina bc they have enough talent to get to 7 wins I assume they will) I'd say he better hope the Jets get him. he can learn from a great like Revis if they want him to be a corner or safety and they have a talented defense amday wanna use his speed out of the backfield offensively given neither Forte or Powell are speedy.

Wrong! I know these guys are terrible talent evaluators because I have state fans tell me otherwise. They say he's too small for LB and too big and slow for a DB, so there is no spot for him in the pros. And these fans are very knowledgeable because they've been watching college football since it started like eight years ago.

I think his ceiling is a hybrid LB/safety, and a huge difference maker on defense, as well as a dangerous returner. If I'm a GM, I'm banking on all that, but if somehow it doesn't work out - he could be a great RB or maybe a Harvin type playmaker. I just put more value on him playing D because RBs usually don't last long.

My prediction; if Jabrill were to throw even 1 td pass that flies over 15 yards and shows a moderate level of touch on the ball, while continuing to do what he's been doing already, he'd win the Heisman.

I say we try it sometime.

nothing to see there.  no need to prep.  guy won't even play O when we play ohio.

and as to his pro prospects, heck, he wouldn't even start for sparty or ohio.   won't make it in the league.   needs his degree, possibly a masters, great career after college in the financial industry, maybe pharmaceutical sales, something where his personality shows through.

Louisville would have to drop another game and Jackson would have to look human in it a la Fournette last season. Even in their sole loss this season Jackson still had 457 yards of offense and 3 TDs in it.

As it stands right now, Lamar Jackson has 3934 yards of total offense and 45 TDs... Those are just video game numbers.
