Newsome video interview on rivals

Submitted by baleedat on

There is a two-part video interview with Kevin Newsome on TheWolverine.com. I don't know what he said because I'm too cheap to buy a subscription. Are there any rivals subscribers out there who would be kind enough tell the rest of us what he had to say (if any of it is worth repeating)?

Why doesn't somebody do this for all the pay content. Just start up a "blog" and copy and paste everything on the Rivals and Scout sites...

he said he loves Michigan, loves the way he was treated and gets along with the coaching staff. He simply jumped the gun on his commitment. He got a little to excited about the thought of playing for Michigan and said yes without really giving any other school an opportunity to make their case. He said he and his family talked about it and decided that there is really only one chance to make this decision, and although Michigan is a great school he needs to take some other visits, talk to some current and former players at other schools and see if anyone else stacks up as well as Michigan.

So its pretty standard stuff I think. He had no hard feelings and really is open to choosing Michigan again. I don't think that will happen though. I think (based on what I've read + that interview) his family will lobby hard for him to go somewhere closer to home and in the meantime I am guessing Michigan will pick up another QB commitment (Forcier) and that will close the door for both sides.

better that he decommit now, rather than string them along only to change his mind later (after Tate and Eugene had committed elsewhere). i guess we should be thankful for that. but i agree, if he was still seriously considering UM i think he would have stayed committed.
