Is "News" Of JH to Raiders Just Rank Speculation, Too?

Submitted by superstringer on

SO WHATS WITH THE STORIES ABOUT THE RAIDERS.  All this good vibe from UMland is being met with good vibe from RaiderNation.  It's like Schroedinger's Box -- both stories can't be true at the same time, yet, they seem to be.  This is one freakin' weird cat.

Our Public Enemy #1 -- er, well, Messenger of Public Enemy #1 -- is SJ Mercury News beat reporter Tim Kawakami.  He's been mentioned repeately as the guy close to the 49ers linking Jim to the Raiiiiiderrrrs (in gravelly voice).  He was the guy Mike & Mike mentioned this morning (I can't stand the one Mike but I'm ok with the other Mike).  So I checked out his twitter, and saw this from just earlier today:

There is definite interest on the Raiders' side. There is curiosity (or more) on Harbaugh's side. From there, who knows what happens.

"Confident" is the wrong word. Just saying it makes sense... MT @WyomingRaider you seem pretty confident Coach Jim will be Raiders HC

OK, that's not a guy saying, it's a done deal and definitely going to happen.  It's guesswork.  It's an opinion.

I'm not saying ITS HARBAUGHING but I'm saying ITS NOT NOT HARBAUGHING.

Just trying to make sense out of this quagmire.  DEC 29 CANT COME SOON ENUF.

Or is there something more concrete people are reporting about the Raiders?

It really is interesting to see what this guy does. His first swing appears to have been a swing and a miss. His GM (probably) and coach (already fired) look like mistakes. Will he continue to go on the cheap for a coach or pay big for a coach and try to combine the two positions? His dad loved vertical offenses, but that isn't Harbaugh at all.

Raiders are interested in Harbaugh is what you are worried about?? I don't need a source to know that the Raiders would be interested in a top tier head coach.

So he's saying Harbaugh is "curious" about the raiders job, and in one writer's personal opinion, Harbaugh to the raiders "makes sense"?

neither of those statements are particularly confidence shattering to me, and really shouldn't be to anyone else except for people in the group the believes Harbaugh to Michigan is secretly already signed and sealed.

Getting Harbaugh, or not getting Harbaugh? It's an academic question since we'll never experience both, but in any event I hope Brian's already getting the MGoCapybaras up to speed.

it is all speculation at this point.  I'm not sure Harbaugh even knows where he will go so how could anyone else?

I won't beleive any report until we see Jim wearing a Michigan hat at a press conference announcing the deal to coach Michigan.

For as fervent a stance as he has taken against Harbaugh going to Michigan he should at least be able to offer up something a little stronger than, "it makes sense." Asshat.

I don't think Kawakami has taken a strong stance against Harbaugh going to Michigan.  He is the SV's beat writer.  The Bay Area version of Wojo.  Everything I have read by him is definately partial to Harbaugh staying, but unless I have missed a major tweet from him, he has never implied that Harbaugh would not come back home, nor have I ever heard him quote insiders saying that Harbaugh would stay.  The guy has a vested interest in Harbaugh staying and the tone of everything he writes implies that he has a lot of respect for him.  Many people in the midwest are saying it makes sense for Jim to come back (like the Grantland article), Kawikami is providing the counter, how it makes sense for Jim to stay in the Bay.  I want Harbaugh at Michigan as much as anyone, but Kawikami saying "it makes sense for him to stay" does not make him an asshat.

You should read his Twitter from last night then.  It started with:

And then continued with him arguing with and insulting Michigan fans for a while for questioning his take.  He was pretty unbiased about Michigan before, but since this exchange he keeps coming out more and more against Michigan in any way.

That he has written. His interest is that he is a writer for the Raiders.

The team sucks! After the game that the 49ers lost, all I could think afterward is how the hell did that happen and 2nd thought was maybe there is something to the power of prayer. I don't see Jim going to the Raiders and just because I am very impartial to him coming to Michigan.

The 49ers are treating him like shit and have been for the better part of 2014 and he's a winning coach? It confuses the hell out of me. Going over to the Raiders would most likely mean some draft picks which they cannot afford to give up, the team would be even worse if it is possible and how long would it be before he is in the same situation as an NFL coach. I say he should take a step back for awhile, come on home to Michigan get a few good years under him, NC Ring and then head back to the NFL for his Super Bowl Ring if he desires.

Michigan is the best a great option for him and it all happens to come at an opportune time. If this was last year we wouldn't even have hope.
