New offer: 2021 QB Shedeur Sanders

Michigan offered 2021 Cedar Hill (TX) Trinity Christian quarterback Shedeur Sanders yesterday. He's the son of Deion Sanders. He's the third son of Deion to be an FBS prospect. Deion, Jr. went to SMU but never really did anything while he was there. Cornerback Shilo Sanders is a 3-star cornerback in the 2019 class who is committed to South Carolina.

Shedeur Sanders is a 6'1", 180 lb. QB who plays for Deion at Trinity Christian. In two seasons as the team's QB, he has over 5,000 yards passing, 76 touchdowns, and just 15 interceptions. Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, and Oregon have all offered.

I'll warn you that the first several minutes of his highlight video are of his receivers running past people and then Shedeur lofting deep balls to them for touchdowns (LINK).

I mean, he's no slouch. He shows off a pretty strong arm a couple times, but generally on the deep balls, he just lofts it up deep where his guys can run under it. They're a legit squad, though. Michigan has offered a couple other guys on the team, and they went 14-0 last year with wins over Bishop Gorman, All Saints, and some other decent schools. They scored 667 points and held their opponents to 189, so they were blowing people out, too.

TC against plays terrible competition in the DFW area.  And Deion Sanders is a total cancer too.   His Prime Prep Academy got shutdown for Deion and his cronies stealing money from the state, and students who never went to class graduated with honors.

One of the schools Deion scheduled last season had a total enrollment of 60 students and that was K-12.

I'd be curious as to how many sons of elite NFL athletes have elite football talent. I can think of guys like Christian McCaffrey and Peyton and Eli Manning who do, and Dylan McCaffrey might. I can also think of guys like Barry J. Sanders and Deion Jr. who didn't have much of a career at the college level.

Just to note, I said elite athletic talent, so don't give me any shit about Eli Manning. He's been a genuine starter in the NFL for over a decade, which makes him an elite talent regardless of the fact that he's no Hall of Famer. So defining "elite" might prove to be a problem; it'd be a lot easier to go with something like "multi-year starter" or something like that.

I'm just one dude, but I keep track of these kids each recruiting cycle with a series called "Pro Athletes and Their Spawn." Here's the 2017 group (LINK), which I'm sure isn't exhaustive, but includes the sons of Derrick Brooks, Germane Crowell, Luther Elliss, Jeff Feagles, Udonis Haslem, Keyshawn Johnson, Pat Swilling, Reggie McKenzie, Alex Molden, Robert Porcher, Tee Martin, Duce Staley, Tyrone Wheatley, and others.

Magnus, do you have any suggestions for the camp circuit?  Have a local kid who wants to get better as a signal caller.  He has done no camps at this point.  I have tried multiple times to get this info from your board and this one with little luck.  Thanks,  appreciate the knowledge as always.

I would be careful with camps. Most of them aren't about learning. They are about showcasing skills. So the kid (and his parents) need to figure out what their goal is and what their needs are.

For learning purposes, I would ask around locally to see if there are any former college QBs who do training sessions. A lot of our QBs have gone to a local guy who used to play at an FBS program, or another guy who played D-III ball. They set up times to work on their own, often on Sunday afternoons.

As for getting exposure, I would try to hit up a college satellite camp (or several) where a bunch of schools are going to attend. DON'T go to camps where only one school is going to be there, because they could be a total waste of time if your guy isn't one of the top few guys they're interested in.

Ultimately, if the kid doesn't want to play in college and doesn't want to take that step to put himself out there, then it's probably not going to work out. We've tried hard to get kids to go to camps before because they said they wanted to get recruited, but they went on vacation instead or said they couldn't get a ride. In other words, they made excuses. If you're not willing to skip a family vacation or figure out a way to get a ride to a camp where you might get 4 years of college paid for, then you don't really want to play college football.

I haven't seen any requests for this type of info on the TTB message board. Sorry.

The craziest thing about that list is that IMG Academy's team goes:

6'10 #18

6'9 #10

6'7 #57

6'6 #12

6'5 #44

Then next year they have the #10 and #57 prospects. Plus they will probably add a few top notch transfers.

Its crazy that their starting five is bigger than ours and that if you add up the rankings of their starting five this year, it totals just 144.

You mean receivers can run past the defense? And there are QBs that can throw it to them? What is this witchcraft? I haven’t the slightest idea what that looks like
